I was pleasantly surprised to discover this secret Staff Hawker Canteen at the Changi Airport Terminal 2 public area. Thanks to our friend Andrea of Changi Recommends for sharing with us this well-guarded makan tip in Singapore’s famous airport. 🙂
You’ve got to check out this secret hawker canteen on your next trip to the Lion City!
Changi Recommends is where I get the SG Travel WiFi 4G pocket device router for only SGD 10 (~ P326) per day and can connect up to 8 devices.
(Tip: It’s in high demand so you have to reserve at least 3 days before you arrive. They have counters in all three terminal arrival halls at Singapore Changi Airport. Â
Reserve online here:Â https://www.changirecommends.com/wifi.aspx)
You can also ask them for directions on how to get to the Changi Airport Staff canteen.

You can check in as early as you can and go on a food trip in the staff canteen before going to the immigration section.Â
It’s located at Terminal 2 Level 3M (mezzanine) near the parking area.
You have to take the elevator to level 3 and walk up the stairs to the mezzanine level.
Push carts aren’t allowed so you have to carry your stuff to the canteen area. Take note of their operating hours.
You enter through the back kitchen of the stalls.
The place is set up as a food court with Southeast Asian food stalls surrounding the dining area, with the desserts/drinks stall in the middle.
A closer look at the SMAACKÂ Chicken Rice Menu.
I recommend the chicken rice stall to get your chicken rice fix before leaving Singapore.
The chicken rice is prepared upon ordering.
The service size is quite huge, with generous servings of rice, chicken soup, and sauces.
Chicken Rice (Public Price – S$3.30/ 3.80)
The public price of the meal is good value for its size. It’s also a good way to spend your loose coins.

I also recommend the Woodlands Fried Fish Soup stall for their Laksa.
The laksa is also good value for its taste, size, and price.
A closer look at the Drinks Menu.
Check out the drinks stall for Nestea Teh Tarick, Nescafe White Coffee, or Milo.
A closer look at the Cut Fruits Menu and Fruit Juice Menu.
I like the availability of fruits for those who want a light snack before their flight.
Here’s a closer look at your Dessert options.
You can also take home some food for your loved ones in Manila.Â
Don’t miss the chance to check this out on your next stop at Changi Airport!

P.S. You can leave your push carts near the elevator so you can use them again on your way back.Â
this was how the manila international airport was back in the 1960’s as a very little boy when we would accompany relatives on their return trip to the united states.
hopefully if we were able to have a nice airport restaurant before, it can be regenerated again.
thanks for the memories
