MANILA HOTEL is an iconic 5-star hotel in the heart of Manila and the perfect backdrop for your Christmas Staycation for 2015! 

This year, they transformed the conference rooms of the hotel into a Colonial Christmas Village with story telling sessions, tea time, Christmas movie showing, and Willy the Bear mascot for the kids.

It’s the first time I’ve seen this kind of dedication in providing Christmas happiness to families with children.  

MANILA HOTEL SUNSET SUITE (Room #1223)

The living room has a classic Filipiniana theme with capiz shells, wood furniture, banig accents, and paintings by renowned Filipino artists.

 

Get the room with a view of Manila Bay, the port, and the sunset over the horizon.

 

The room is cozy, with a Senso memory foam mattress and an extra sofa bed near the window.

 

You can add an extra bed for P2,500, which already comes with additional bathroom amenities and breakfast buffet.

  

The bathroom uses Italian marble with separate walk-in rain shower, bathtub with waterproof LCD TV, and foot stool for the kids.

 

I love the Les Notes de Lanvin bath amenities. 🙂

 

The cabinet design looks cool with bathrobes and a spacious safety vault.

 

It was thoughtful of them to provide appropriate slippers for the kids. 

 

There were also surprise children’s books from Adarna to read to the little ones before going to bed.

 

THE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE (until January 2)

Visit the Children’s Christmas Village at The Manila Hotel, open until January 2, 2016 only.

 

The conference area has been converted into a Christmas Street inspired by Parson St.

 

Get your Golden Ticket from the Mayor’s Office to get permission to enter the village.

The golden ticket costs P1,500 per head and the companion green ticket costs P800 per head.

 

You can shop at UK-based toy shop Hamleys for classic, vintage, and other Christmas toys.

 

The golden ticket entitles you to get your own “Willy the Bear” inside Willy’s Emporium. Who is “Willy the Bear”?

 

Your kids will enjoy the storytelling sessions, held at around 2.30pm and 4.00pm every Saturday and Sunday.

 

Your kids can also read from the extensive selection of Adarna’s children’s books.

 

Next stop is getting your favorite Christmas cookies and put them in your own tin can.

 

Enjoy tea time with the kids at the Patisserie Bakeshop and Tea Hall. 

 

Christmas Village Kiddie Meal: hotdog sandwich, chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, smiley fries, and marshmallows.

 

Watch your all-time favorite Christmas movies at the Grand View Theater with a bag of popcorn.

 

Make sure to go early to secure your lazy boy seat and enjoy the full-length movie.

We love the Filipino and Chinese section of the breakfast buffet.

 

My kind of breakfast–skinless longganisa, dangit, lamb curry, and scrambled egg.

MANILA CATHEDRAL SIMBANG GABI

The beauty of staying at Manila Hotel is you are near Manila Cathedral where you can hear a solemn mass.

 

The church is air-conditioned and popular for weddings.

 

MANILA HOTEL LOBBY LOUNGE

The Lobby Lounge Menu: Starters, Salads | Soups, Sandwiches | Pizza, Noodles & Pasta | Dessert, Native Kakanin

Drinks Menu: Wines | Cocktails | Spirits: Whiskey  | Spirits: Rum, Tequila | Beer, Soda, Juices  

You can feel Christmas in the air as the carolers serenade you with their lovely Christmas songs. 

 

Bibingka (P210 +10% service charge + local tax). Native rice cake over-baked served with white cheese and salted egg.

Best bibingka in town! Get a slice. Top it with shredded coconut, kesong puti, and salted egg. It has a cake-like consistency that has a snap when you bite into it.

 

Puto Bumbong (P180 +10% service charge + tax). A Filipino rice delight served hot with grated cheese.

Your Christmas morning is not complete without eating hot puto bumbong with brown sugar, grated keso de bola, and shredded coconut.

 

Pancit Malabon (P450 +10% service charge +local tax). Rice noodles topped with a delectable sauce of pork, shrimp, and annatto flavor.

You can also order Pancit Malabon with generous ingredients and al dente rice noodles.

 

Quattro Formaggi (P550 +10% service charge +local tax). White sauce, mozzarella, gorgonzolla, fontina, parmesan.

We also like the pizza, which is good for sharing as you hang out with the kids in the Lobby Lounge.
