HELLO KITTY CAFE Opens in Manila! (What to Expect?) @hellokittycafe

Hello Kitty Café is a newly opened Sanrio-inspired restaurant by the Sanrio Group Philippines with its flagship store located in Uptown Mall.

The Sanrio team created an all-around kawaii concept, with Hello Kitty established in every one of their items- from interiors down to the food. The restaurant’s motif is French-Mediterranean inspired, with a touch of extravagance fit for a princess. 

The menu is carefully curated, selected, and approved by the Sanrio group, along with the help of newcomer Chef Khamir Doble of Enderun.

Hello Kitty Café is located on the 3^rd floor of Uptown Mall (Cinema level), Uptown Bonifacio. 

 

We were greeted with these cages that tower over some of the tables.

Gold is a recurring color throughout the restaurant and a great contrast from all the cute, pastel colors.

 

Hello Kitty Café’s Menu: Appetizer, Pasta, and Drinks, Entrees and Desserts

Hello there, Kitty! It felt like stepping into one Sanrio store reminiscent of childhood memories.

 

STARTERS

Roasted Pumpkin Soup (P185)

Pumpkin soup topped with edible flowers and a Hello Kitty pumpkin cutout. 

The soup was smooth, has the right amount of thickness and the flavor is subtle yet satisfying.

 

Salad Marius (P385)

A salad with different textures and flavors: leaf lettuce, carrots, orange wedges, blue cheese and candied walnuts topped with Hello Kitty edible ribbons and a cute crouton.

Make sure to eat a combination of a little bit of each ingredient in every bite. 

 

ENTREES

Shrimp Scampi (P439)

Seared shrimps on a bed of garlic and EVOO infused linguine noodles, finished with a hello kitty toast on top.  

The noodles were seasoned perfectly, al dente with just the right hint of garlic taste.

 

Burgeresse (P499)

Meat patty topped with fried onion rings and melted cheese sandwiched between Hello Kitty brioche buns. 

If you want something on the heavier side, this will satisfy you. The patty was juicy and well-seasoned. 

 

DESSERTS

Mango Charlotte (P519)

Layered sponge cake with mangoes, coated with a mango glaze wrapped around classic ladyfingers. It is one of the most intricate dishes on the menu for its plating, finished with a birdcage lantern and pretty flowers. 

The sponge cake was soft and complemented well with the sweetness of the mangoes.

 

Chocolate Tart (P279)

Smooth chocolate filling encased in an unsweetened, crisp pastry shell topped with strawberries, mint, and mousse finished with white chocolate on the side.

The flavors complemented each other but was a bit too sweet. 

 

Choco Chips Biskie and Crinkle Biskie (P199)

Strawberry and chocolate icing sandwiched between two medium-sized chocolate chip and crinkle cookies, respectively, topped with strawberries enclosed in a pretty vintage cage. 

If you want something more indulgent, this is the dessert for you. 

 

White Truffle Kirsch (P399)

Pretty two-layered soft mousse filled with cherry liqueur.

Make sure to include some of the desiccated coconuts to your bite to cut the sweetness. 

 

DRINKS

Strawberry Peanut Butter Frappe (P295)

A filling and thick frappe. It had a strong peanut butter aftertaste and satisfies your sweet cravings. 

 

Fizzy Sodas (Blue and Cherry) (Php 105)

Sprite-based drinks with artificial flavoring. Tip: mix it well to lessen the sweetness.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Hello Kitty café is a place perfect for girl bonding moments, millennials looking for an instagram-worthy cafe, and fans who have fond memories of their Sanrio childhood. It feels like stepping into a fantasy world with its rich color selection and Hello-Kitty-inspired food. 

We would recommend the Roasted Pumpkin Soup, Salad Marius, Shrimp Scampi, and Burgeresse for something savory.

For desserts, we loved the Mango Charlotte and strawberry milkshake best. You can also check out their pastry selection in front of the store.  Some of the desserts were a bit sweet, so it won’t be ideal for those who are conscious about their sugar intake.

Make sure to have a reservation and bring cash. Budget about 700/head.
