Ready for a respite from the bustling Alona Beach? Look no further. Located atop a limestone cliff, Amorita Resort Bohol is undeniably one of the best eco-friendly and luxurious resorts in the Philippines. This perfect cliffside hideaway boasts a sweeping unobstructed view of Alona Beach, best enjoyed from its infinity pool and five-hectare property that overlooks the whole stretch. A bonus: there’s a hidden private beach accessible only to Amorita guests.
“Amorita” translates to little darling in Spanish. Our sweet and intimate stay at the resort undoubtedly lived up to this namesake.
Here are 5 reasons why you should stay at Amorita…

How to Get There:
Air Asia flies from Manila to Bohol 4x daily. Amorita Resort Bohol offers airport transfers for a hassle-free vacation.
1. The Location & Amazing View
Experience the ultimate #poolgoals. I mean, isn’t there something so alluring about infinity pools? Especially when they come with unhindered views of the gorgeous white sand stretch of Alona beach. The best time to visit is early in the morning if want to see the beautiful sunrise or late in the afternoon if you want to witness the sunset while lounging in the pool area.
Location is one of the primary reasons why this place is unique as opposed to other resorts.
Its cliffside location allows you some sense of privacy but still get access to the beach. And, nope, I didn’t take this picture with a drone.
Don’t forget to stay in for cocktail hour every Wednesday & Friday for free drinks with a gorgeous sunset view on the pool deck.
2. Private Villa + Rooms
Amorita offers a range of accommodations—98 suites that include 16 private villas.
Their ocean view villas are just goals—a private plunge pool next to a terrace looking out to the ocean! Can you imagine waking up and having breakfast here?
The Junior Suite comes with two heavenly double beds. This room works great as a family room for two adults and two children. The beds are so comfortable I’m sure you wouldn’t want to leave the room, but Amorita has so much more to offer that it would be a waste to just stay in bed. In one corner of the suite is a daybed perfect for lounging or for working on a laptop. This can also be used to accommodate a third person.
One of my favorite surprises from One-of Collection’s resorts are the little complimentary snacks that they leave in the room. They brought drinks (fresh calamansi juice) daily to our room fridge plus cookies and butterscotch during turndown service at no additional cost. The soda and water were also free.
Guests are also provided with a buri bag, a good bag to use for carrying stuff around so as to avoid using plastic bags during stays at the resort.
3. Breakfast
The breakfast buffet was one of the things I looked forward to during our stay at Amorita. The Saffron Restaurant, located beside the infinity pool, offers outdoor dining experience and serves an international menu, but mainly promotes local dishes. (Breakfast Buffet is open from 6am – 11am.)
Continental offerings include eggs, bacon (so crispy), bread, pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, salad.
On the other hand, Filipino offerings, which change daily, include adobo, fried danggit, bistek Tagalog, pancit, bangus and hot cocoa.
I recommend trying their danggit, a favorite breakfast staple. Their version is thin, crispy and not that salty. Pair this with garlic rice, and don’t forget to dip in local vinegar.
Fresh fruits! I recommend the famed Philippine mangoes! They also have soy milk if you don’t do dairy.
4. Dining Options
The resort houses the Saffron Restaurant, which is the best place to experience Filipino cuisine with a Boholano touch.

Hawaiian-style soy marinated raw tuna served with crispy wonton chips, a perfect light appetizer to start the meal.

If you want something cheesy, I recommend the chorizo fundido—baked queso de bola and chorizo dip served with grilled bread.
The best part of dining at Saffron? The complimentary homemade mango popsicles, perfect for the hot summer weather! Must-tries!

We also loved the Chilean mussels cooked in sambal coconut broth.

I’m a sucker for fried tender pork knuckle. I just love crispy golden brown pork skin dipped in vinegar and soy sauce mix.

The prawns were amazing! They were lip-smackingly good prawns, soft & juicy with every bite.

Pizza!

For dessert, order the tablea chocolate cake, rich local chocolate cake with chocnut cream! I loved how it was not so sweet.

Our favorite was the creamy yema cheese cake baked with chocnut crust and topped with spiced pineapple rum compote.
5. Private Beach
Another thing that makes Amorita perfect for those who like privacy is their Secret Beach. It can be accessed through a wooden staircase hidden from plain sight.
There are sunbeds on the lower deck where you can leave your stuff while you take a dip at the beach or take your creative shots. Only guests of Amorita can access this as it is separate from the strip of Alona Beach.
