Harry Potter in Concert in Manila Review

It was our first time watching a CineConcert where the entire film is shown on a 40-foot screen playing only the original dialogue (with subtitle), with the music performed live by a symphony orchestra in sync with the movie.

It was indeed a magical experience to watch the original Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone™ with the musical score performed live by the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gerard Salonga.

First Things First

The Harry Potter Film Concert Series is a concert tour that features a live symphony orchestra performing, to picture, every note from the Harry Potter films, beginning with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone™.

Check out the official schedule of the global tour here: https://www.harrypotterinconcert.com/.

CineConcert Experience

You get to relive the key moments of the iconic Harry Potter franchise while listening to a whole symphony orchestra.

Sometimes, you get lost in the dramatic music of the movie, and you get to appreciate how the symphony orchestra, together with the conductor, was performing in sync with the right point in the movie.

You need to be a Harry Potter fan to appreciate the applause during the moments when characters—Harry Potter and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley—first appeared in the movie.

You need to be able to identify with one of the Hogwarts houses bearing the last name of their founders: Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff.

Quidditch is more exciting with the symphony orchestra playing because you can feel the action and the drama with every note until the climax.

Don’t forget to take pictures of the Hogwarts letters only for true Happy Potter fans in Manila.

Final Thoughts

Congratulations for an awesome movie concert. You have to be in the orchestra to truly appreciate the music.

We loved the encore music at the end of the show! Galing ni Gerard and the entire symphony orchestra!

Disclosure: Thank you to CineConcerts and  CC:Concepts for an awesome show.  I wrote this article with my biases, opinions and insights.

P.S. Don’t be late. Show starts on the dot and you have to wait for 15 minutes to enter.
