Legoland Malaysia is designed with families of boys in mind and is a favorite destination among kids who are Lego fans.
You need at least 2 full days to enjoy the entire resort, so I would recommend a 4d3n trip for an awesome experience with the first and last days dedicated to traveling to/from Singapore.
We’ve been to Legoland with the boys three times in recent years. This post summarizes all our power tips on how to enjoy Legoland hotel, Legoland theme park, Legoland water park and SEA LIFE with all the research you’ll need to plan your everything is awesome trip in 2020!

Hotel Rooms
There are four theme concepts: Adventure, Pirate, Kingdom and the most coveted one—Ninjago (reserve in advance).
All rooms have 1 king bed for 2 adults and 1 bunk bed for 3 kids (maximum of 5) each except for the deluxe rooms with 2 bunk beds (maximum of 8).
The bathroom is spacious with toilet, separate shower and a wash bin for adults and kids and provided with complimentary toiletries.
The little ones loved going up and down the bunk beds and the pull-out trundle bed while the other boys couldn’t wait to build with legos.
Breakfast
BRICKS Family restaurant is an all-day restaurant that features Western and Asian buffet specialties.

There was a good variety of Malaysian, Indian and Western breakfast food.
My favorite was the soup station where they prepare hot noodle soup for you every breakfast.
Lobby
There are different activities at the lobby—from building activities, magic performances and interactive dance.
Align your shopping strategy upfront: Create a competition throughout the trip with points, and the winner gets a prize in the shop.
Don’t miss to take a family picture during the awesome appearances and meet & greet sessions at the lobby throughout the day.

Pool
After all the theme park activities, relax and watch the sunset from the roof deck swimming pool.
You can play lego in the pool only until 7 pm. (Pool operating hours: 8.00am to 7.00pm)

Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Angkor Wat is a temple complex in Angkor, Cambodia. It was built by King Suryavarnam II in the 12th century. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is an awe-inspiring temple and stunning for its grand scale and intricate architectural design. It is the largest religious monument in the world.
Bolinao, Philippines
The beauty of Bolinao, a thriving fishing town on the coast of Luzon Island in the Philippines, makes it a popular tourist attraction. Within the town centre is the Church of St. James the Great, built in 1609, and Bolinao offers scenic beaches and waterways with colourful fishing boats
Brunei
Spectacular describes the iconic royal mosque located in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, named after the 28th Sultan of Brunei. As one of the most impressive examples of modern Islamic architecture in Southeast Asia, the mosque dominates the skyline of Brunei with its large dome covered in pure gold.
Hoi An, Vietnam
Once a major Southeast Asian trading post in the 16th and 17th centuries, the seaside Hoi An town is basically a living museum featuring a unique mixture of East and West in the form of its old-town architecture. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hoi An is a popular tourist attraction with its historical buildings, picturesque beaches, retail hub and restaurants by the sea.
Karaweik Hall, Myanmar
The architecture of Karaweik Hall is inspired by the mythical creature, Karaweik and ancient royal barges. A prominent landmark in Yangon, the Karaweik Hall is an enormous floating barge on Kandawgyi Lake in Yangon, Myanmar.
Patuxai, Laos
The Patuxai Victory Monument, built between 1957 and 1968, stands impressively on the Vientiane skyline. At the top of the landmark are five ornate towers designed in the traditional Laos style motifs that pay homage to its natural culture and traditions.
Pura Tanah Lot, Indonesia
A popular tourist and cultural icon, this beautiful temple built on a rock formation on the coast of Bali, Indonesia can only be reached at low tide. When the tide rises, the landmark amazingly becomes an island of stunning natural beauty. It’s an architectural splendour surrounded by water.
Singapore
Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is a Southeast Asian city-state off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. Taj Mahal, India
The Taj Mahal is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is widely known as the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of heritage. Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, the monument’s shimmering white marble takes on different colors during the day.
The Forbidden City and Great Wall, China
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and listed as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world, the Forbidden City is the most impressive Chinese imperial palace from the Ming to Qing dynasties.
Wat Arun, Thailand
The Temple of Dawn, the Wat Arun on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, is one of the most beautiful Buddhist temples in Bangkok with its riverside location, colorfully decorated spires and majestic reflection over the water.
We loved touching the interactive buttons of each display that animates the destination and sometimes squirts a water canon at you.

Johor Bahru
Home to Asia’s first LEGOLAND®, Johor Bahru stands proud as a bustling city with potential to become a major tourist, entertainment, commercial, shopping and dining hub in the southern shores of Malaysia, and lies just across the Causeway from Singapore.
Johor Majestic Palace
Istana Bukit Serene is the royal palace and official residence of the Sultan of Johor. The Palace opens to breathtaking views of the Straits of Johor and Singapore city skyline. Built in 1933 and completed in 1939, the Palace with a high tower measuring 35m and sprawling gardens playing host to royal gatherings and celebrations, is a prominent historical landmark that stands tall as a symbol of the modern Johor sultanate.
KLIA
Kuala Lumpur International Airport is Malaysia’s main international airport and the seventh busiest in Asia, handling over 35 million passengers yearly. With a 130m high control tower, 2 runways measuring 4,000m in length each and the ability to collectively operate 120 flights per hour, KLIA is one of the fastest growing major airports in Asia Pacific.
Kuala Lumpur
The capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, dazzles as one of the world’s most popular cities among tourists and fastest growing metropolises in the country. Home to stunning modern architecture like the Petronas Twin Towers and British colonial-era landmarks such as the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and Sultan Abdul Samad Building, KL also boasts natural forest reserves, scenic hills and pristine lakes.
Pirates
Arrrgghhh you ready for an adventure based on the tale of the pirates of the Straits of Malacca? Our LEGOLAND® pirates have set up a secret camp behind a waterfall at the base of an active volcano. The scene shows the daily struggle between pirates with their high mast ships and the locals who are defending their fort and city.
Port Tanjung Pelepas
Malaysia’s most advanced container terminal, the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), is located on the eastern mouth of the Pulai River in southwestern Johor, Malaysia. Strategically sited at the confluence of the main east-west shipping lanes, PTP has a sheltered bay and no tide restrictions. Today, the port delivers reliable, efficient and advanced services to major shipping lines.
Putrajaya
Putrajaya is Malaysia’s third and latest Federal Territory located 25km south of Kuala Lumpur. Built on an expansive marshland and former oil palm estate in Selangor, the city spans an area of almost 5,000 hectares. Putrajaya takes over the administrative functions of the capital city Kuala Lumpur and is part of the Multimedia Super Corridor project of the Malaysian government.
IMAGINATION
We recommend starting at the Imagination area, which was the boys’ favorite area, and work your way from the back to the front.
LEGO Racers Build & Test
We went back twice to Build & Test during our visit because it was so cool we could spend the whole day there.
Go when it opens at 11.00 am, and they will give you two sets of wheels to build your own race car.
You can do a crash test, compete to become the fastest, or beat your instructor in the Lego car race.
Observation Tower
Go up the revolving observation tower to enjoy a 360-degree view of the park. (Kids above 6 years old with a minimum height of 120cm can go alone.)
LEGO Studios
Watch the interactive 4D LEGO movies and make sure to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled show.
Wear your 3D glasses to immerse yourself into the action-packed Lego movie with interactive segments where you’ll get wet and wild.
Lego Ninja Go World
Master Wu welcomes you to the Monastery of Spinjitsu where you will train to be the next Ninja Go.
Make sure to go in your favorite Ninja Go costume and train with fellow LEGO ninja warriors and guardian dragons.
Ninja Go was quite fun: you sit in a carousel with your group of 4 and train with fellow Ninjas and beat your enemies with the lightning strike.
Yugi, the Earth Ninja, won with 131,500 points, and he was able to claim his prize at the Lego shop at the end of the day.
We all loved Ninja Go—so cute! I wish they had a costume place where kids could wear Ninja Go costumes. 🙂
LEGO CITY
Go to Market Restaurant for the best place to eat lunch with Asian and Western options.
Opening Hours:
Wednesday – Sunday : 11:00am to 5:00pm.
Closed on Monday & Tuesday.
It was good that there were healthy tasty options at the park (and not just junk food).
The little ones demanded to each have his own chicken nuggets, fries, free lunch box and, of course, gummy candies.
For those looking for better quality options and something to satisfy their craving for good food options in the park.
I celebrated my 45th birthday here with my awesome family!
Lego City Stage
After lunch, watch the Ninjago Puppet show at the air-conditioned Lego City Stage. (Take note of the showtime before you eat.)
It was relaxing to watch the Ninjago puppets, the 3D video mapping and special effects. Galing!
Junior Driving School
For the little ones (ages 3 to 5) like Yugi, who enjoyed having his own driver’s license from the Junior Driving School.
He got to race and beat his fellow little ones in this driving course. There is also a separate driving school for 6- to 13-year-old kids.
LEGO TECHNIC
The Great Lego Race VR Coaster
This roller coaster with VR headset was really fun.
You get to enjoy a virtual reality race that’s in sync with an actual roller coaster ride.
Make sure your VR headset equipped with Samsung phone is working to enjoy the ride.
LEGO Star Wars
The LEGO® Star Wars™ Miniland Model Display will go off to a galaxy far, far away on 31st December 2019 (last day)!
If you are a Star Wars fan, you get to enjoy each of the iconic scenes in the movie with all the characters built from lego.
The exhibit is huge and faithfully recreates the scenes and makes you want to bring a part of it home.
At the end of the tour, you just can’t resist to buy so you could build your own Star Wars Lego collection at home.
Lego Mindstorms
This is one of the coolest features of Legoland: you get to join a Lego Robotics class!

SEA LIFE provides an up-close interactive ocean experience with the magic of Lego to inspire kids to love, learn about and care for the ocean.

What makes it unique from other oceanariums is the different ocean-themed Lego characters integrated into the aquarium.
Watch the interactive show at Sting Ray Bay where kids get to appreciate and care for the sting ray and its habitat.
Be creative in taking your souvenir photos inside the aquarium designed for the selfie generation.
We spent a lot of time in our favorite section where we could create and color our own fish and release it to the virtual aquarium!
There were a lot of interactive exhibits for kids to learn about blacktip reef shark, zebra shark, jellyfish, stingrays and seahorses.
Check out the ocean-themed souvenir shop and different Sea Life themed merchandise.
It only takes less than two hours to visit the entire space, so we recommend going here when it opens before going to the water park.
LEGOLAND WATER PARK
We love the water park, and day 2 of the trip is usually for hanging out in the water park where kids of all ages can enjoy.
Operating Hours: Water Park Sunday to Monday: 10.00 am to 6.00 pm
The water park is not too big and you can manage to explore all the areas in half-a-day or within 4 hours.
We love to hang out with the little ones at the LEGO® wave pool with decent waves where you can watch Lego movies on the outdoor screen.
Enjoy a giant splash from the 300-gallon bucket at the Joker Soaker water-based playground.
Go on a lazy river ride while building your own raft with Lego bricks.
Build your own Lego water boats and race them down the rapids.
This is a good parent-kid bonding session as you experience the ride together.
There are rides and slides for all ages with varying degrees of excitement. (Go-pros are not allowed.)
We decided to have lunch at the Brick Cafe overlooking the wave pool. (Budget about RM40 ~$9.6 ~₱488/head)
The kids just love simple American comfort food with soft drinks after a pool experience.
Parents can go for a more satisfying premium option with a steak sandwich.
Since you are in Malaysia, order this unique nasi lemak, a fried giant squid specialty.
The water park is small and manageable and can be completed in 4 hours. It’s a cool place to hang out in a Lego-themed water park.
LAND OF ADVENTURE
After the water park, it’s the perfect time to go to Dino Island to get wet and wild down the mountain.
Go on a log ride with the family and catch sight of lego themed dinos in a forgotten volcano along the way.
Take note: The little ones below 120cm in height are not allowed in this ride.
BRICKS DINNER
Sometimes at the end of each day, you just want to relax at the hotel and eat buffet.
Pirate’s Buffet Dinner

We celebrated my birthday at the Bricks Restaurant with a colorful table set-up plus activity sheets for the kids.
The buffet dishes were decent, with both Western favorites and Malaysian specialties.
There was a wide variety of meats and dishes, but some were lacking in flavor and intended for mass consumption.
The best part of the buffet was the roast meat carving section for chicken, duck and lamb.
Our favorite was the BBQ section of fresh from the grill sausage, meats and seafood!
Sarap—eat all you can grilled shrimp, pork barbecue, satay chicken and lots of hotdogs for the kids!
The kids loved the fruits, marshmallow and chocolate fountain section from which they could eat all they want.
Our favorite dessert was the Cendol halo halo with coconut meat and fresh durian!
HOW TO GET TO LEGOLAND
We traveled via Singapore, and took the Philippine flight that arrived around 7 pm.
We arranged for our van transport ahead of time to pick us up from the Singapore airport and bring us directly to Legoland Malaysia.

We had to go down the van at the Singaporean border and pass through immigration (and carry the little one).
When you fill-up the immigration form, just put 1 day length of stay, next port is Johor Bahru and the hotel is Legoland Malaysia.
You have to go down a second time at the Malaysian border, this time with all your bags for security scanning.
We arrived at Legoland after 3-4 hours of travel just before midnight.
FINAL THOUGHTS
We have four boys and Legoland feels like it was designed with makukulit boys in mind.
The family had an awesome time—celebrating my 45th birthday, enjoying the hotel, theme park, water park and SEA LIFE. The food at the park and the hotel is a lot better this time around.

there is also an option to rent a van (either alphard or innova) from the SG airport that will bring you directly to legoland. and it costs only around 100 SGD. big plus is that when you travel by van, no need to go down to fill up immigration forms! saves so much time and energy!
