Gram is instagram-famous for its fluffy, three-stack premium pancakes. It opened its first store in Shinsaibashi, Osaka in 2014 and now finally in Manila with its flagship store in SM Mega Fashion Hall.
We waited for 3 hours just to have a taste of the famed Gram pancake from Japan. Was it worth the wait?
First Things First
Allot 90 minutes queuing time to get to taste the precious 30 premium pancakes hot and freshly baked only for each of the 3 time slots during the day.

We arrived 11.30 am and we were hungry, so we tried the other pancake and toast options for lunch while waiting.
Pancakes & Toasts

This was a good option for breakfast with a big slab of bacon that you could share and eat with the pancake.

The photo on the menu showed a slim Japanese hotdog, but it was served with a jumbo hotdog with chili beans for a Mexican taste.

For dessert, we ordered the French toast with mixed berries served a la mode.

Our favorite was the apple pie pancake that was made special by the Earl Grey Tea cream.

This Tiramisu pancake is instagram famous, but it was a bit heavy eating the tiramisu-flavored 3-layer pancake.
Premium Pancake
By 2pm, the restaurant was cleared to wait for the next batch of 30 for the 3 pm slot.
The line starts at 1.00 pm and, if you line up at 1.30 pm, you are sure to make it to the 30 slots.

The jiggly pancakes, topped with butter and served with a dollop of cream and sweet syrup on the side, were worth the wait.
The pancake was pillowy soft, but it still had body when you bite into it. Eat it with just a bit of butter, cream and syrup.
For those who can’t wait for the freshly baked sandwich, order the cold version for take-out (just so can say you tried it).
Final Thoughts
The premium pancakes were worth the wait. Best to eat them immediately while hot. We recommend the Chili Bean & Sausage for the savory pancake and Apple & Tea Cream for the dessert pancake.
The queuing time slot system is something you need to be prepared for, so I recommend lining up 90 minutes before the time slot. Kudos to the service team for an awesome welcome service and for being very patient with irate customers.
The pancakes are best enjoyed with your family, and the kids are sure to love them.
You need a lot of patience because the queuing line is a hassle, but I guess it’s better than flying to Japan to try this.

P.S. Gram Manila is also owned by the same group that brought Tiger Sugar to Manila. Most of the people on the line ordered Tiger Sugar while waiting. 🙂
