After our awesome experience with El Rapaz, we decided to go back with our Business Mastermind group to meet face to face after close to 2 years of just meeting online and hold a business retreat/fellowship to face 2022 with better mindsets and strategies.

Sharing with you our experience onboard El Alavanco here.

EL ALAVANCO

El Alavanco, which means duck in Northern Spain, is a 42-foot sail cruiser ideal for smaller groups, with 2 bedrooms, toilet and a kitchen where the crew can cook your meals onboard.

This is the new boardroom. We mostly hangout on the deck, energized with Vitamin D from the sun and refreshed by the Mabini bay winds.

Usually in the mastermind, we take turns to talk about our businesses and ask for help or get advice on new projects—priceless!

Afterwards, we share personal updates about the family, including our hopes and aspirations for the next generation legacy.

Of course, the milleniors need to have fun and check off ✅ Riding a Banana Boat from their bucket list. Unli-banana boat is always fun. 🙂

BOODLE FIGHT

Boodle Fight (₱800/head) with paella, salad, chicken ahillo and mixed fruits +₱200/head for beach entrance fee

One of the awesome things about El Rapaz is that they can organize a beach boodle fight setup on banana leaves complete with beach blanket & pillows!

It comes with a bluetooth speaker so you can play your own beach boodle tunes to set the mood.

There was a bit of a pause when the group saw the boodle fight setup because after being locked down for so long, it was the first time for any of us to have an intimate communal lunch using our hands.

At the center of the boodle was a paella so good that everyone was raving about it after. It was served with seafood and chicken toppings and with salad and fresh fruits on the side, not to mention tahong shells as spoon.

One of the best sharings we had was over the boodle fight. A souvenir photo and a dip were perfect after a good lunch.

Note: Bring your own beer and wine to pair with the food.

SUNSET DIVE

We had to hurry back to Anilao to have an intro dive at Planet Dive with the milleniors before the sunsets.

Note: Book the intro dives separately in advance with your favorite dive shop.

Thank you to Planet Dive for accommodating our last minute request for the milleniors to check off âś… intro dive from their bucket list. Panalo!

We decided to hang out on the boat to swim and banana boat pa more.

This is the perfect time to take portrait shots as the sun sets.

HAPPY HOUR

Big Fruit Platter (₱780). Big platter with mixed seasonal fruits
Chia Pudding (₱360). Topped with mixed fruits and nuts
Nutella Brioches (₱480). 6 brioche mini buns spread with Nutella

We ordered their different desserts for our sunset snacks. The fresh fruits were a hit, the nutella bread was perfect for merienda, but the chia pudding was a bit hard to share.

Turon (₱380). Saba banana dusted with Muscovado sugar, wrapped in a spring roll and fried. 6 pieces

Turon is always life when you are in the coastal towns. (A bit expensive though.)

Chocolate Fondue (₱480). Mixed fruits with dark chocolate fondue

Our favorite was the mixed fruits that you can dip in chocolate.

We transferred to El Rapaz to have our happy hour drinks and finish the sharing of the other mastermind members.

SUPPER

El Rapaz had a table good for 6-8 on the fly deck and it was moored near the bay.

Bauan Lechon (₱9,000 + ₱300 delivery)

The highlight of our feast was the Bauan Batangas Lechon!

El Rapaz can pre-order it and have it delivered on the boat with smoke still coming out of its butt.

Seafood Paella (₱680). Small Good for Two

Ordered the small paella so that we could taste different flavors during the meal.

Iberico Pork Paella (₱890). Small good for two

Our favorite was the Iberico Pork Paella because of the flavorful meat and aioli sauce.

Meat Parrillada (₱2,600). Grilled chicken thigh, pork belly, angus tenderloin, sausages served with roasted potatoes

We also loved this grilled meat platter with sliced angus tenderloin cooked medium and the smokin’ sausages. Went well with the paella. 🙂

Vegetable Parrillada (₱980). Grilled mixed vegetables

Even the grilled vegetables, served with nice grill marks, were sweet and crunchy and good on their own.

Grilled Fish (₱980). Grilled Lapu Lapu or similar served with grilled potatoes and roasted vegetables

It was the only disappointment in what we ordered because the fish was frozen and I was expecting it to be fresh from Anilao Bay.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, one of the best mastermind sessions to cap an insanely crazy 2021.

What sets El Rapaz is that it not only provides one of the safest experiences in the pandemic but also it provides an awesome food experience. Definitely, don’t miss the Beach Boodle Fight, the La Picara-inspired Paellas, and their Meat/Vegetable Grilled Platters. Make sure to bring your own bottled water, enough beer and wine to last throughout the day.

Congratulations to El Alavanco with Kapitan Eboys and team for an awesome cruise experience!

P.S. To Overnight or Not to Overnight?

No problem if you are all boys going on overnight, but the ladies might find the cabin a bit dirty.

The main bedroom, with clean white sheets and pillow, is at the front of the boat .

There’s a capsule-like bed beside the toilet.

Food is made fresh from their kitchen, but it takes time if you order the meat platters and paella.

Bring your own Antigen test kits to test the crew and guests before you start your cruise experience.
