Siam Thai is a casual Thai restaurant in Kapitolyo that offers Mookata, a hybrid hotpot and grill. They are the first to bring the Mookata Thai BBQ Grill experience to Manila, and they pay tribute to Thailand’s classic dishes and rich culinary culture. They are also known as a beer garden (inhuman place) and sports bar for their local brews and basketball games.

Siam Thai recently won the Thai SELECT Casual Award for their Thai street-food style food and ambiance. The award is given by the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government, to restaurants that offer authentic Thai cuisine in a casual setting.

ABOUT SIAM THAI

Siam Thai is a casual Thai restaurant and neighborhood watering hole in Kapitolyo. You can chill here for hours with our unique Mookata grill, extensive drink selection, including local microbrews, or catch the latest basketball game on our screens. Whether you’re looking for authentic Thai dishes or just a place to unwind, there is something for everyone.

The Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, the Royal Thai Government has launched the “Thai SELECT” program to certify and promote authentic Thai cuisine around the world.

It is a seal of approval granted to Thai restaurants (both overseas and local Thai restaurants that serve authentic Thai food) and processed Thai food products.

The objective is to give recognition to quality Thai restaurants and processed Thai food products as well as to encourage Thai restaurateurs and food producers to raise their quality while maintaining authenticity.

Siam Thai is best known for their authentic Thai Classic dishes like the Pad Thai, Tom Yum Soup, Thai Curries and their signature Mookata Thai BBQ Grill. Most of the dishes are served in street food-style steel boat-shaped plates.

AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD

APPETIZER

CRISPY CHICKEN SKIN (₱245)

The crispy chicken skin with Thai spices pairs perfectly with beer.

FRIED CATFISH (₱335) with Mango Salad

The catfish is fried and coated in a crispy egg mesh that you break and mix with the Thai sauce. Sarap into.

DEEP FRIED BATTERED PRAWNS (₱290)

Tempura-style prawns with a thicker batter and Thai dipping sauce. This is OK for pulutan.

TENDERLOIN SATAY (₱445)

A grilled barbecue with smoky, sweet, and savory Thai flavors goes well with Chang Thai Beer.

NOODLES

PAD THAI (₱365)

The pad thai was delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors and spiciness. It’s a best-seller.

RICE

BAGOONG RICE (₱245).

It’s a good portion size to pair with the grilled meats and catfish.

CURRY

CHICKEN GREEN CURRY (₱345)

The curry is light and flavorful, with a hint of spice and aromatic Thai herb flavors.

BEEF RED CURRY (₱395)

The deep red color of the red curry can be intimidating, but it’s worth it for the spicy and flavorful dish. The white rice helps to cut the heat and balance the flavors.

FRIED CHICKEN

SIAM FRIED CHICKEN (Whole) (₱575)

The Thai Fried Chicken was decent, but it didn’t really stand out. It’s good to share.

MOOKATA

The Mookata is served table-side with a hot pot and burner. You can cook it yourself in ala-hot pot style or ask the service to cook and serve it for you. It’s a good interactive family-friendly dish that is a healthier alternative to fried foods.

THAI BBQ (MOOKATA) (₱645)

The chicken broth is poured into the hot pot to prepare the grill. The meats are then placed on top of the grill. Once the meats are cooked to your liking, the meals and vermicelli noodles are added to the hot pot. The dish is then served in a small bowl with various Thai sauces.

DESSERT

THAKO (₱150)

A classic Thai dessert to end your meal. Thako is a creamy coconut pudding topped with crunchy dried coconut. It is sweet and refreshing, with a hint of coconut flavor.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, I love the Thai street food vibe at Siam Thai BBQ in Pioneer Centre. They serve Thai classic dishes authentically well, and the food is presented in nice serving plates with good smaller portions. My favorites are the catfish salad, Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai, Chicken Green Curry, Beef Red Curry, and Thako for dessert.

It is a popular inuman place for after-office drinking sessions or watching basketball games with friends. I also love the mookata concept, where you can grill your own meats and vegetables in a hot pot of soup. It’s a great way to share food with family and friends.
