Azadore by Chef Tatung is a grill restaurant specializing in Mestizo Spanish, American, and Filipino comfort food favorites. Situated in an art-inspired mid-century 1950s home designed by Ivy Almario, Azadore has successfully navigated the controversies surrounding the paella and pork chop, solidifying its position as one of the top restaurants in Quezon City. Serving as a warm and inviting venue for celebrations, it caters to multi-generational Filipino families.
We had a delightful Happy New Year dinner with Chef Tatung, featuring Azadore’s specialties:

STARTERS

Truffle Chips (₱380)
Homemade Potato Chips, Butter, Parsley, Parmesan, White Truffle Oil
This is quite addictive with just the right thickness with bits of butter, Parmesan, and truffle oil. The main dishes would take time to be prepared, so this is a good pica pica over chika chika.

Azadore Salad (₱780)
Fresh Burrata, Mixed Greens, Grilled Vegetables, Cherry Tomato, Chimichurri, Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette
A simple but good burrata salad with grilled vegetables with a thick honey balsamic sauce.

Ceviche Mixto (₱650)
Squid, Shrimp, Tuna, Tigre de Leche Sauce, Corn Nachos
A good appetizer to share served with corn nachos topping them with raw seafood, its sauce, and a splash of lemon.

Oyster Rockefeller (₱620)
Aklan Oyster, Sauce Florentine, Smoke Bacon, Lemon Wedge
Oysters with bacon and burnt cheesy top finished with a splash of lemon. Wifey loves this.

Albahaca (₱270). Gin, Calamansi Juice, Lemon Juice, Basil, Simple Syrup
E.W. (₱250) Vodka, Dalandan, Honey Turmeric Syrup
The cocktails are well-balanced, not overly sweet, reasonably priced, providing just the right amount of buzz for engaging conversations. I like the Albahaca and wifey enjoyed E.W..
FAVORITES

Lala Pura’s Lengua Ala Sevillana (₱820)
Ox Tongue, Mushroom Sauce, Truffle Paste
We prefer our lengua to be tender yet with a satisfying bite, complemented by a flavorful mushroom sauce na malinamnam. Best paired with a hot white rice.

Callos (₱860)
Ox Tripe, Oxtail, Smoked Chorizo, Tomato, Beef Stock
Everyone raved about this, and it’s our favorite. It’s challenging to execute callos well, achieving the right mouthfeel, generous portions of meat, olives and smoked chorizo. Sarap!

Azadore’s Classic Fried Chicken (₱670)
Southern-style Spiced Chicken, Choice of Gravy or Bourbon Barbecue Sauce
Many people recommend this fried chicken. It’s crunchy, not excessively oily, and the chicken meat is flavorful and moist.

Pair the chicken with their homemade dinner rolls with butter. They bake their own bread.

Smoked Pork BBQ Ribs (₱900)
Wood-smoked Pork Ribs, Coleslaw, Grilled Corn
Yes, they smoke their own pork ribs! The dish is delicious on its own, with the flavor penetrating through its tender meat and ligaments. Add the thick BBQ sauce and enjoy it with hot white rice – panalo!

Paella Mixta (₱1,200). Chicken, Shirmp, Clam, Chorizo
Everyone also enjoyed the paella, featuring a generous layer of rice and ample portions of seafood, chicken, and chorizo. Its distinctiveness lies in its rich flavor – malasa, and a delightful hint of smokiness.

Pork Chops in Mushroom Sauce (₱1,200).
Pork tomahawk, Shimeji mushroom, cream sauce
The pork chop is served tomahawk-style, sous-vide with subtle pink tones, deliciously tender. Masarap specially the burnt ends and the meat with a bit of the fat.

Creamy Three-Mushtroom Truff (₱490)
Penne, Mushroom, White Truffle Oil, Cream
I like how the penne absorbs the flavors of mushroom, truffle and parmesan.

Steak Pizza (₱790)
Tenderloin Steak, Wood-smoked Bacon, Mushroom, Bell Pepper, Onion
The pizza is presented in an old-style fashion, featuring a cookie-type dough and topped with steak and bacon. However, this dish garnered mixed reactions, possibly due to the crunchier dough or maybe the steak overpowered the pizza.
FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, Azadore hits all the right flavor notes for our favorite comfort foods. If you were to attend a Sunday family celebration at a Filipino home, you would likely encounter this blend of Spanish, American, and Filipino culinary delights. The food is familiar but tastes special, with grilled or smoky hints in the salad, paella, and other comfort food.
Our favorites were the Lengua and Callos paired with the Mixta Paella. Additionally, the main courses are quite good – Classic Fried Chicken, Smoked Pork BBQ Ribs, and the Pork Tomahawk. We love starting with the truffle chips and grilled burrata salad. Budget about ₱1,500/head for celebrations + drinks.
This is a great place for a Family Sunday Brunch or a reunion with QC friends, but make sure to reserve the private rooms.
