GLOBE Roaming Explained! Why #RoamwithGlobe on your Next Travel?

Roaming while traveling has become a must to stay connected, share real-time updates with friends using #happeningnow, and safely navigate your destination. If you’re a GLOBE subscriber, you’ll be glad to know that their roaming rates are now competitive (yes!) compared to getting a local SIM or a Wi-Fi router for sharing.

However, understanding the difference between GO ROAM, ROAM SURF4ALL, and the standard ROAM SURF promos can be confusing. Globe’s Brand Team doesn’t always communicate these clearly, making it hard to find the right information. I finally got clarity after attending Globe’s Roaming PR event.

Here’s a guide on how to #RoamwithGlobe on your next trip!

GO ROAM

Go Roam promos offer roaming rates that are comparable to getting a local SIM or Wi-Fi router at your destination. The rates vary by country, with different data allowances (GBs) and validity periods (days).

Destinations. The competitive Globe Roaming rates are limited to the following countries:

(new destination added)
• JAPAN
• CANADA
• AUSTRALIA
• VIETNAM

(Existing destinations)
• HONG KONG
• THAILAND
• TAIWAN
• MALAYSIA
• UAE
• USA
• SINGAPORE
• INDONESIA
• SOUTH KOREA

(Note: If you’re traveling to destinations not covered by the promos mentioned, consider getting a local SIM, Wi-Fi router, or eSIM for those out-of-scope locations.)

GoRoam Promos are hidden. GoRoam promos are not easy to find, as they’re somewhat hidden within the Globe One app, which isn’t very user-friendly for roaming. To check the roaming rates, you’ll need to download the Globe One app and locate the options there.

STEP #1. In the Globe One App, select BUY PROMOS

STEP #2. SEARCH the country of your destination or click on VIEW MORE

STEP #3. Select your GO ROAM promo rates for the destination.

ADVANCE ROAMING BOOKING

STEP #4. You can book your GO ROAM rates in advance, and you’ll only be charged once the service is activated.

Note: The book-in-advance option is only available for Go Roam promos and does not apply to Roam Surf rates, which are suited for multi-location destinations.

Note: The Go Roam advance purchase will be charged to your bill only when it is activated on your travel date.

You can easily cancel your booked promo if your trip plans change (no additional fee). If the promo is not activated, postpaid customers will not be charged and prepaid customers will receive a refund.

ROAM SURF4ALL

You can also book ROAM SURF4ALL if you want to share your roaming service with up to 5 Globe devices. Just ensure that all your friends and family are Globe subscribers to share the data roaming.

For families and groups of friends going on cross-country trips, Roam Surf4All—the first of its kind—offers the ultimate convenience with shareable data roaming:

• With Roam Surf4All, enjoy your adventures at 5G speeds, whether solo or with a group, without staying close together or worrying about slower data as more people connect.

• It allows up to five users to share data seamlessly without needing an extra device.

• You can easily add or remove members, set data limits, and monitor usage through the GlobeOne app.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Finally, Globe has made its roaming rates competitive, a big change from before when excessive roaming charges and bill shock were common, which is why only about 10% of Globe users opted for the service. It will take time for users to regain trust in Globe’s roaming services, but I’m glad they’ve started listening to customers by offering breakthrough rates that are close to local prices, along with data roaming sharing through the GlobeOne app.
