Your Monday Nights will never be the same with Laffamania @ Spicy Fingers in Greenbelt 2. The show starts promptly at 8pm with entrance fee of P150. Better reserve a table with Spicy Fingers and be there by 7pm. The food is OK and nothing to rave about. Don’t bother to ask recommendations from the waiters because they would often say, “Lahat po sa menu ay masarap.” That is one sign of either the waiters are not trained very well (and have not tasted the food yet) or there is nothing remarkable about the food. Better check out the menu already and order based on your personal preference. Budget P500/ head for your Spicy Fingers dinner.

Tim Tayag @ Laffamania in Spicy Fingers.

Tim started performing stand-up comedy in 1997 in a little cafe in San Francisco. In a few years, he developed his act and showcased it in world famous comedy clubs such as Punch Line and Cobb’s where famous comics like Robin Williams, Chris Rock and Drew Carey took their first comedy steps.

In 2002, Tim decided to go back to the Philippines and share his style of comedy with Filipinos. (Hooray! We should always celebrate when Filipinos decide to go back to the Philppines 🙂

Mike Unson @ Laffamania in Spicy Fingers

Mike first started with an improv theater group Big Bang Cheery, and once the bang fizzled out, he moved on to going solo. From there, he’s opened for Rex Navarette on numerous occasions during his Philippine tour of duty, and even taught Stand-up comedy courses at the Ateneo law school in Rockwell. His next big break was when he performed in “Jojo A. All the Way” and “Men’s Room” on Channel 23. In 2005, Mike out-laughed his contemporaries at a stand-up comedy stand-off, to take home the grand prize.

We were pleasantly surprised to see Donita Rose’ husband Eric Villarama doing one of the opening acts for Comedy Cartel. I like his humor because some of it is based on his unique situation as the husband of a Filipina celebrity.

Seafood Fettucine (P370 + SC). Pasta with melange of seafood cooked in white wine and olive oil. The white wine and olive oil sauce was not as tasty as we expected.

Spicy Fingers Chicken Coconut Curry (P360+SC). Chicken fillet cooked with red curry paste and creamy coconut cream. We were not happy with the coconut curry sauce. Maybe, we are just used to the Thai sweet curry sauce of Sukho Thai.

Sticky Nachos (P360+SC). Nacho Chips with Guacamole, Salsa and Sour Cream. We were happy with the huge serving of spicy fingers nachos. Beer + Nachos + Comedy Cartel Jokes = Winner!

  1. wow! i’m a big fan of Tim Tayag, you can catch him at the Living Asia Channel with his On-Foot segment 🙂

  2. i think that Alex is the funniest! Sure he didn’t have an accent but his wit humor definitely makes up for it. Awesome! Tis definitely a smarter alternative for the filipino’s taste in humor. Cheers!

  3. “IMHO, Mike Unson is the funniest of them all.-Gus”
I agree w/ you, Gus! I’ve seen this Mike Unson dude do consistent 1 hour shows at Conspiracy and he also opens for all the Rex Navarrete shows here in Manila. He’s been at it for the past 5 years and despite that he still does open mikes and other free shows to sharpen his technique. That kind of dedication is just hard to ignore. I think I’m not alone when I say that the guys one of the main reasons why we even have POV stand-up here in the Philippine. And no matter what kind of crowd he performs for, he just wins ’em all. You got balls, Mike Unson!!!
