Here is the excerpt from the Miele Guide Website:

10. Antonio’s Fine Dining
Tagaytay City, Cavite, Philippines

” Standing for over five years now, Antonio’s menu has proven to be as spoon-worthy as its ambience is swoon-worthy. It has consistently been considered among the top five restaurants in the Philippines and a favourite for proposals and intimate weddings. Chef Antonio Escalante’s commitment to fine cuisine remains strong. A la carte ordering is simple enough although the pre fixe menu may prove a little tricky as it allows guests a mix and match of salads and desserts with select entrees. Don’t skip the salads as Tagaytay offers the best greens in and around Metro Manila. Duck has also been known to steal the show, especially the duck confit in Grand Marnier beurre blanc or the roasted duck breast served with foie gras. The service here at Antonio’s is excellent. The wait is never long and within minutes you are seated, handed a menu and offered the restaurant’s signature dalandan juice. “Miele Guide Asia’s Top 20

  1. WOW! congratulations to Antonio’s!
    its always encouraging to see filipino’s being recognized internationally. 😀
    by the way, several of the related OAP links (to your previous posts) aren’t working. Please check links 1, 2, and 4. 🙂

  2. information from a friend: miele actually compiled a list of the top 300 restaurants in asia. while antonio’s was the only filipino restaurant to make it to the top ten, two personal favorites of mine — the only two among the roster from the same group of restaurants — also made it. those are chateau 1771 and sentro!
    other restaurants from the philippines included in the miele top 300 are elbert’s steak room and le souffle, among others.

  3. a well deserved recognition from the Miele Guide. me and my boyfriend (eventually became my husband), have been dining at Antonio’s months after it opened and been eating there since. we love their grilled chilean sea bass and grilled chicken with rosemary (not in the menu anymore). my husband said that if a guy wants the girl to say yes to a marriage proposal, the perfect place will be at Antonio’s specifically the tables near the pond or a table at the lawn downstairs. a meal at Antonio’s wouldnt be complete without a tall glass of dalandan juice.

  4. According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miele_Guide Miele Guide is published in Singapore and its official partners include include TIME Magazine, Visa Inc. and Hyatt Hotels. That explains why 4 out of 10 are from SG and a Hyatt hotel restaurant is ranked in.
    As far as I know, the most reliable guide is from Michellin
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelin_Guide.
    Considering, Tokyo was rated the top of all in the 2007 edition (see following links for reference);

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/24/business/worldbusiness/24guide.html?fta=y
    But then, I haven’t tried Antonio’s however, I do not believe it ranks higher than any other restaurant in Tokyo specifically.

  5. We were impressed at first that Antonio’s was able to make it to the Top 10 spot of Miele guide so we decided to revisit the restaurant. We were very much disappointed with the food and especially the service. That day, we observed that not only us were complaining about the slow service. This isn’t even a weekend holiday. Some guests even went to the kitchen to talk to the chef or manager. The excuse of the manager was all the guests came at the same time. We started at 12 noon and ended our lunch by 4pm.
    The glory days of Antonio’s is over. Restaurants such as Nobu, Hotung, Yungkee,Mozaic, Robuchon, truly deserves a spot in Miele guide. Over the years, they’ve been very consistent with the food and service.
