As featured in 10 Most Awesome Live Escape Game / Mystery Room Experience in Manila in 2014!
MYSTERY MANILA is a simulated game experience that challenges you and a maximum of 5 friends to bring out your inner Sherlock Holmes or Jack Bauer and solve a mystery in 60-90 minutes.
They currently have 3 game room experiences in their flagship store in Libis (Justice for Jamila, The Chained Chamber, and The Ticking Time Bomb) and soon, 2 game rooms in Makati (Rebecca’s Room and The Sinister’s Sensorium).
We tried Justice for Jamila, which is the only one suitable to play with kids. Check out our experience (no game spoilers in this post)…

Mystery Manila is located at the 2nd floor of the JW Plaza Building along the southbound lane of C5, directly opposite Eastwood.
You have to arrive 30 minutes before your reserved time slot to get the proper orientation for the game. They offer juice to get you ready to solve the mystery.
These are the times to beat. Make it your goal to be in the Top 10 by assembling your dream team of the best mystery-solving minds among your friends.
You get a shirt if you finish any of the indoor games in 30 minutes or less, or the Ticking Time Bomb in 45 mins or less. If you go beyond these times and still solve the mystery, you get a Mystery Manila sticker.
Mystery Manila was founded by two couples — Chuck and Marge Chang together with Errol and Kimbee Magdato, who have always wanted to put up a business similar to the Mystery House in Japan, and the Escape Hunt in Bangkok.
Check out their Fan Post-it wall for raves from Mystery-loving Filipinos, and maybe look for tips on how to solve the challenge.
We were given a piece of paper to write the clues, and Jamila’s case file. If you’re going with the kids, make sure to feed them first, go to the restroom beforehand, and explain that they cannot go out of the room until the mystery is solved.
We listened to Jamila’s voice to set the tone for the mystery…
There are a lot of clues in the room. The goal is to find them all to know who the suspects are, eliminate each one, and solve the mystery.
You have to find the key to open the room next door and complete the challenge.
You can ask for additional clues or help with solving the mystery from the game master. Each time you ask, you receive a 5-minute penalty on your total time.
We solved the mystery in 73 minutes. This is officially the first awesome experience of Baby Yugi with his brothers. 🙂
Overall, a highly recommended experience for your mystery-loving kids, a great team building activity with your friends, and a good date idea with your special someone. It’s very challenging but fun. Resist the temptation to ask for help or additional clues to make it really exciting.
There’s an unspoken code among those who solved the mystery that you cannot share clues with or give hints to your friends.
Be warned though: once you’ve solved one mystery, it can get addicting and you might find yourself wanting to solve the next one. It’s actually possible to do a Mystery Marathon for an entire afternoon.
JUSTICE FOR JAMILA.

Now, it is up to you to follow the clues that Jamila left to solve this mystery within 1 hour. Time is of the essence. Good luck.

P.S. I’m excited to solve this next — The Ticking Time Bomb!
Oh my god! I can’t believe there’s a place for this, I am a sucker for crime and mysteries and have always fancied myself solving ’em. I am going to suggest this to my friends! Do you have any idea when are they opening the Makati branch?
