The Story of CATHERINE’S Yummy Apple Pie
CATHERINE’S CAKES & PIES: APPLE PIE HISTORY
Since before, I have not tasted an apple pie that I really, really liked. One time, a friend from Canada and his family, whom we invited to a party in our house, wanted to share his apple pie, which he said, is his mother’s (or was it grandmother’s) recipe. He and his wife came early to our house with some of the ingredients and baked their apple pie. It turned out to be a hit. My other friends, who came afterwards, really liked it as well as I did and it was gone immediately. Then, I realized that an apple pie could be made delicious after all. After that, I was inspired to make it even better.
At that time, we only had the walnut pie and blueberry cheesecake in our menu. An apple pie would be a good addition to it.
So I tweaked their recipe. I modified the caramel sauce and changed the top crust to a streusel (crumbly) crust. Then I asked relatives and friends to taste it and took note of their comments. I kept revising it as long as I heard negative comments. After about a year of testing and revising, we came up with our own apple pie. Of course, we still made many changes since then to fine tune the taste and the production process. Now, I am happy that there is an apple pie in the market that I like.
That is basically what drives me to come up with products. I make items that I like to eat!
