When in Korea, you’ve got to taste the authentic Korean Fried Chicken, so we visited NOO NA HOL DAK Chicken while shopping in MYEONGDONG — The 9th Most Expensive Shopping Street in the World.
Here’s a photo essay of our experience…
Myeongdong, which literally means “bright town” is the best high-end shopping destination in Seoul.
The beauty stores have their own gimmicks like this pink bubble bath to lure customers in.
Myeongdong street is also full of street food stalls, like this one for a pastry topped with egg.
Check out the Dakkochi, skewers of grilled chicken and vegetables…
…and empanada-shaped dumplings.
I don’t know much about Korean Street Food, so I would love to hear your suggestions on the must-tries. Do you agree with this list of Top 10 Korean Street Food?
The police station is very visible so it feels safe walking along the streets.
Make sure to check out Jinsadaek near the alley beside the Police Station.

One of the best pasalubong from Korea are the Korean Beauty Products!
You can also find one of the biggest Lotte malls housing the Duty Free shop for Cosmetics.
Here are the recommended brands by the Korean beauty experts to buy as pasalubong:
- O HUI Super Anti-Aging Essence
- SU:M Flawless Regenerating Eye Cream
- LANEIGE Perfect Renew Night Treatment & Emulsion
- SNAIL MASK by Etude House
Let me know if there are other Korean cosmetic brands you recommend.
1-2 hours is not enough to go shopping around Myeongdong area. It’s best to shop around late afternoon to dinner time. (Tip: Restrooms are located on the top floors.)
Noo Na Hol Dak
For dinner, our guide Helen brought us to a favorite chicken shop by locals — Noo Na Hol Dak.
Noo Na Hol Dak Menu: Set Menu, Appetizers, Fried Chicken, Fried Chicken 2, Salads, Drinks
The entire menu is in Korean but they have photos so you can just point to what you want.
The fried chicken is best paired with local Korean beers like Cass.
They serve hot soup, popcorn, and pickled vegetables as appetizers.
I love their healthy serving of salad with their signature black sesame sauce.
I like the Korean Fried Chicken which is very juicy inside and crispy on the outside.
The soy garlic version is the best — it’s sweet and has a very nice chili kick.
We had to order another serving just to satisfy our cravings! Budget is about KRW14,200 or P600/pax.
A great meal indeed…Gunbae “건배”!

We were in Seoul exactly a year ago, and we’re going back this December. I didn’t know this existed in Myeongdong — we’d definitely TRY this one out!!
There are a lot of places in Manila that offers Korean chicken. One that comes to mind is Kulpy Chicken. They have a branch in Banawe and SM North Foodcourt. They claim that they’re authentic but I can’t be sure because I haven’t tried the real thing. You might want to check it out and let us know how Kulpy fared.
I enjoy this blog about Myeongdong area and NOO NA HOL DAK Restaurant. I suddenly remember the scene in “You’re Beautiful” where Go Mi Nam goes around Myeong-dong. 🙂
I would be really happy if someone would give me su:m and laneige as pasalubong 😀 Iope is a good brand too
Thanks Ron! Sige, will check Kulpy out. After this Korean series in OAP, planning to go around Manila and feature the best Korean places 🙂
Yey, I’ve been waiting for you to feature Korean restaurants in Manila for so long. I shall look forward to that. Please visit Korean cafes too. They’re so cute even if coffee isn’t that good. 🙂
Btw, aside from Kulpy, there are other Korean chicken places you might want to try for comparison like “Hol-dak” at Mezza Residences in Sta Mesa.; “BBQ Chicken & Beer” with branches in Greenhills, Eastwood, etc.; “Smoper’s” at BGC. Enjoy!
OK will check those out… Thanks for the tip!
May i know exact address of the noo hol dak chicken
