KWONG’S PROVISIONS is a San Franciso Mission Street-inspired Chinese food restaurant by Suzy Lee of Spring by Ha Yuan. It’s an American interpretation of Ha Yuan favorites. Kwong is the Chinese family name of Suzy.

The Kwong’s Provisions Menu includes Ha Yuan favorites like Maki Mi and Lumpia, plus some new American-Chinese creations.
Maki Mi+ (P190). Ha Yuan is famous for their authentic Maki Mi, and the Kwong’s version is loaded with more garlic toppings and other ingredients.
The Maki Mi+ has fat noodles and thick sauce, and is big enough to share.
Braised Short Ribs Rice Bowl (P270). The braised short ribs are tender with a just the right amount of barbecue sauce, topped on a generous serving of rice.
Our favorite–soft-shell crab fried in a signature batter, served in soft cua pao buns with vegetables and sauce.
For someone who doesn’t like soft-shell crab like me, I thought this was good.
You can’t go wrong with this authentic Chinese Lumpia based on the Ha Yuan original.
Another Kwong specialty is their fried chicken with salted egg mixed into the batter.
✮ Salted Egg Chicken Wings (P240).
I love the crispy skin with salted egg flavor, which gets increasingly addicting with every bite. Couldn’t help but finish every piece.
Lazy Chili Crab with Mantao (P195).
The chili crab sauce was a bit salty and a little too hot.
Recommended for those who like chili crab sauce with their fried buns.
✮ Prawn & Crab Roe Balls (P175).
Fried shrimp balls with crab roe inside crunchy skin.
Fried Salted Egg Lava Pao (P110).
Like mini-button mushroom paos with salted egg inside. I’m not a fan.
This was OK. A slice of banana and a bit of Nutella inside. It might be better to create a chocolate-filled version instead.
Congratulations to Suzy and Charles for a well-executed Kwong’s Provisions concept!
I recommend their Soft-shell Po’boy, Salted Egg Chicken Wings, and Prawn & Crab Roe Balls. Most of their specialties are fried though, so nakakaumay at some point.
