PERSIA GRILL BGC: The Best of Persia Grill with Kian Kazemi @PersiaGrillPH

Persia Grill-25.jpg

PERSIA GRILL serves Middle Eastern cuisine using heirloom recipes from Kian Kazemi’s grandmother’s kitchen in Tehran, Iran (formerly Persia). The restaurant also offers Filipino favorites of the Kazemi family.

I had a food trip with Kian at Persia Grill BGC. He shared with me his favorites and the best way to enjoy the food at Persia Grill.

The interiors are contemporary Persian–lively and homey.

Persia Grill-5.jpg
✮ Peshgahza (Family – P395, Junior – P250 +8% service charge). Combination of all our 4 dips served with Pita Bread.

  • Salad Oliveyeh (solo – P120). Potato dip with chicken, egg, dill pickles, & olive oil with Persian spices.
  • Baba Ganoush (solo – P115). A dip of freshly roasted eggplant mixed with olive oil & Persian spices.
  • Hummus (solo – P120). A dip that is high in fiber made of mashed chick peas, olive oil, & Persian spices.
  • Must O’Khiar (solo – P115). Classic cucumber, garlic, and Persian yogurt dip.

Persia Grill-7.jpg
I personally like the roasted eggplant (Baba Ganoush) with the mashed chick peas (Hummus) and a bit of the Persian yogurt dip (Must O’Khiar).

Persia Grill-10.jpg
✮ Feta Cheese with Pita Bread (P199 +8% service charge)

The Peshgahza dips are best paired with the hot feta cheese and with more pita bread freshly made from their kitchen.

Persia Grill-6.jpg
✮ Strawberry Shake with Yogurt (P105)

Order the yogurt shake, which is a good palate cleanser to refresh your tastebuds after each meal.

Persia Grill-9.jpg
Tabouli (Family – P305, To Share – P165, Solo – P99 +8% service charge). A flavorful mixture of parsley, tomatoes, and lemon.

This is another classic dish that is tangy and light enough to prepare your appetite.

Persia Grill-12.jpg
✮ Lamb Biryani (P415 +8% service charge). Served with steamed long grain Basmati Biryani rice, vegetable salad, & yogurt.

This is my favorite! I now know how best to eat this…

Persia Grill-13.jpg
Kian’s recommendation is to mix the meat with the yellow biryani rice.

Persia Grill-16.jpg
Then add the salad, yogurt, and special sauce into the mix.

Persia Grill-18.jpg
The lamb is still juicy, meaty, and with just the right aftertaste. You can add salt, pepper, and sumac (paprika) to your liking.

Persia Grill-22.jpg
It’s the rice toppings of champions! You can share it with a group of 2-4 people.

Persia Grill-26.jpg
✮ Kebab Platter. Beef Kebab Stick (P115/stick), Taka Grilled Beef Tenderloin Stick (P160/stick), Morg Grilled Chicken Breast Stick (P115/stick), Chicken Tikka Stick (P115/stick).

The Kebab platter is my second favorite. It’s best to order per stick. Order one of each to get different flavor profiles.

Persia Grill-28.jpg
The meats are best paired with the Burani sauce. You can ask the waiter mix it for you.

Persia Grill-29.jpg
Burani Sauce is grilled tomato mixed with yogurt dip.

Persia Grill-30.jpg
Mash them together to get the juices of the tomato into the dip.

Persia Grill-33.jpg
Add the fresh yogurt and chili sauce on top.

Persia Grill-34.jpg
Mix well and add salt, pepper, and sumac to taste. Sarap!

Persia Grill-36.jpg
The burani brings out the flavor of the meats and works up your appetite.

Persia Grill-46.jpg
Plain Persian Rice served with butter (P35 +8% service charge)Steamed cooked long grain rice. Basmati rice is known for having a very low glycemic index. Persian way of cooking further reduces this by removing the excess starch while cooking.

Order a serving of plain basmati rice with butter on top to eat with the kebab.

Persia Grill-27.jpg
✮ Sizzling Ox Brain (P140 +8% service charge)

Here’s an umami tip: Order some sizzling ox brain and mix some of it with the plain basmati rice.

Persia Grill-35.jpg
Squeeze some kalamansi on it to remove the oily aftertaste.

Persia Grill-49.jpg
All Vegetable Musakka (P225 +8% service charge). Our best selling dish made of eggplant, onions, tomato, chick peas, cooked in Olive oil and served with Pita bread & yogurt.

Order this if you’re going with your vegetarian or healthy eating friends. This musakka version is very saucy from the juices of the eggplant and tomato cooked in olive oil.

Persia Grill-52.jpg
Persia Grill Chicken Barbeque (P175 +8% service charge). A top favorited, marinated and cooked Persia Grill style, served with Java rice & veggies.

On some days when you like to try something different, check out their Persian-style Chicken BBQ, which is a bit sweet with their own secret marinade.

Persia Grill-53.jpg
Pistachio Baklava (P130/2 pcs.)

End your meal with something simple and sweet like the baklava. It’s a good way to clean your palate of the spices.

Persia Grill-54.jpg
Persia Brewed Tea (P55/cup)

Drink their own signature tea to wash away the oil and the fats and end your Persian meal on a happy, healthy note.

Persia Grill-2.jpg
I’m craving for Persia Grill just writing this blog post!

I recommend starting with the Peshgahza, Feta Cheese, and Pita Bread. Then go for the Lamb Biryani and Kebab with Burani Sauce and Basmati Rice topped with Ox Brain. On some days, mix it up and order the Persia Grill Chicken BBQ

It’s best to eat here with your friends and family so that you can enjoy and share the different dishes. Budget about P500/head.

Congratulations to Kian for the continued success and expansion of Persia Grill!
