HOUSE OF BAWAI at the Newly Opened Solenad 3, Nuvali (A Review) @NUVALIOfficial

HOUSE OF BAWAI is an off-shoot of the popular Bawai Vietnamese Kitchen in Silang, Cavite, located at the new Solenad 3 Mall in Nuvali. The Tatlonghari family, which owns Bawai, joined forces with Rowena Mendoza of Rowena’s Tagaytay, and Jo Benasa for this latest incarnation.

I was happy to find that there are more yummy and healthy restaurant options in Nuvali now. Here’s a look at House of Bawai and the other new establishments that opened in Solenad 3…

SOLENAD 3 (Soft Opening)

Bawai Solenad 3-5.jpg
The Multisport Hub for Triathletes, owned by our friends Junrox and Arlene Roque, is one of the first retail stores to open in Solenad 3.

Solenad 3-2.jpg
Morning After is an all-day breakfast alternative in Nuvali. (Any OAP readers who have tried this?)

Solenad 3-1.jpg
Family Mart’s famous Twirl and other goodies now available in Solenad 3.

Solenad 3-4.jpg
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Solenad 3 is also already open.

The “Market Market” area of Solenad 3 is starting to come to life.

House of Bawai (Soft Opening)

Bawai Solenad 3-8.jpg
The House of Bawai is located in a standalone restaurant spot surrounded by the gardens.

House of Bawai Menu: Salads & Greens, Appetizers, Noodle Dishes | Entree, Sandwiches, Dessert

The menu is Vietnamese comfort food. Although it’s not as great as the original Bawai Kitchen in Silang, this spin-off is still good, considering they offer healthy food and are better than the other available options in Nuvali.

Bawai Solenad 3-16.jpgGoi Cuon (P220 +12% VAT +10% service charge). 3 pcs. Fresh rolls, pork, shrimps, cucumber, and greens with peanut sauce.

The shrimp fresh rolls were a little dry and the peanut sauce a bit diluted. Still a good, healthy starter, but quite pricey for what you get in return.

Bawai Solenad 3-22.jpg
✮ Goi Du Du (P270 +12% VAT +10% service charge). Chilled papaya with exotic herbs & prawns on house vinaigrette topped with cashew.

We like this healthy papaya salad that is good for sharing.

Bawai Solenad 3-23.jpg
The salad is best eaten together with the shrimp crackers (3 pieces only).

Bawai Solenad 3-18.jpg
✮ Banh Mi Heo (P190 +12% VAT +10% service charge). Crispy Baguette with Glazed Pork.

The boys loved the Banh Mi because of the baguette and the nice combination of vegetables and yummy glazed pork flavor.

Bawai Solenad 3-19.jpg
It’s so big that it can be shared by three hungry boys! Good value for your money.

Bawai Solenad 3-25.jpg
Pho Bo (P365 +12% VAT +10% service charge). Traditional Vietnamese Noodle Soup with Herbs & Beef Medallion.

We loved their Pho Bo soup–clean beef broth and good herb lime taste, but a bit commercialized in flavor. Good to share but cools down quickly because of the glass bowl.

Bawai Solenad 3-27.jpg
Hu Tieu (P335 +12% VAT +10% service charge). Seafood noodle soup with squid, prawns, crab sticks, and pork brisket.

This soup on the other hand was bland and not as good as the Pho Bo.

Bawai Solenad 3-28.jpg
Banh Da Lon (P55/pc +12% VAT +10% service charge). Pandan & mung bean rice cakes with coconut milk and crushed peanuts.

I would have preferred it in 3 smaller cups than in this one big green kutchinta form. A bit expensive considering the size. You’re better off getting an ice cream twirl in Family Mart.

I love that HOUSE OF BAWAI provides a healthy, yummy alternative to the other restaurants in Nuvali. The standalone location with a view of the garden is also a huge plus.

Make sure you go before the peak lunch and dinner hours to easily get seats. Order the Papaya Salad (Goi Du Du), Banh Mi Heo, and Pho Bo (Beef Pho). Budget about P400/head.

The pricing is deceptive though as there’s still an additional 12% VAT on top of their menu prices. As far as I know, all restaurants should publish VAT-inclusive prices, or indicate this in their menu otherwise.

Check out House of Bawai the next time you’re in Nuvali.

  1. Hmmm with the way you reviewed it , it sounds like a mediocre place. Thanks, I’ll be avoiding this restaurant when I’m in the area.

  2. I’d still prefer the Original Bawai in Silang where they cook only for you and not the commercialized version.

  3. Bawai Vietnamese Kitchen in Ayala GARDEN Mall, my favourite dining in Phls. Beautiful Lorraine gives you individual service and the atmosphere`s is very appetizing indeed!
