Art in Island, the biggest 3D Museum in Asia, is bringing their paintings to a whole new level with their latest installment.
Mostly known for 3D and interactive paintings, Art in Island is now moving into the realm of digital art.

The newest attraction can be found at the main hall. At first glance, it seems like there’s nothing new to the place.
But in a few seconds, the space completely transitions into darkness and distant music begins to play.
The interactive video focuses on the story of the Creation, and makes use of the paintings of the animals, the ark, and the ones beside it at the right-hand side of the hall. Prior to creating this digital art, the paintings were already arranged in such a way that it would actually tell a story.
Five minutes later, and the show is already done. We were impressed by the quality of the graphics and the way the light played with the paintings on the walls.
There were moments when it was hard to decide where to look as a lot of things were happening. Keep an eye out for the fireworks!
So how do they do it?
Through the power of projection mapping, the art in the main hall comes alive. Projection mapping is a development in projection technology that is used to turn everyday objects into interactive displays. Light is projected onto the paintings on the walls to give an illusion of movement.
After the show, we resumed walking around and taking pictures at the paintings that caught our eye. It’s better to come as a big group so you can all take turns taking each other’s photos.
We especially loved the Red Chair as it is reminiscent of the Alice in Wonderland concept.
Paintings in Motion is a five-minute interactive show that happens every two hours. The first show starts at 11 AM, and the last one is at 7 PM.
All the lights in the museum are switched off for the duration of the show to give the best possible experience. Before the show starts, an announcement is made through the speakers so that guests can make their way to the hall and get settled.
FINAL THOUGHTS
We feel like Paintings in Motion is the perfect addition to their current art lineup. It doesn’t distract viewers from the paintings, but rather allows for a new way of interacting with the art.
Paintings in Motion launches to the public this September 2017. This newest addition will not be for a limited time but will be kept as a permanent attraction at the museum.
