Combine sushi and playful art equals a certified Instagrammable visual feast! You’ll definitely feel guilty about touching the mayo art!
From the group, EatUpMnl, comes a new restaurant with its own unique twist on Japanese cuisine. Soru Izakaya offers a place to relax and enjoy inexpensive Japanese dishes and drinks which make it the perfect place for a friendly group dinner or an after-work hangout here in BGC!
Soru Izakaya provides its customers with a classy yet casual dining experience through its quality food and artistic ambiance. Inspired by the Robatayaki style of Izakaya, which means Gastropub in English.
Rather, Soru Izakaya’s menu offers a variety of new and exciting choices through its modern take on traditional Japanese dishes. Here are some of the dishes we tried…

Located in Burgos Circle, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
True to its roots, Soru in Burgos Circle also features the same interior as their flagship store in Quezon City, it combines the playful appearance of bishoujo (pretty girl) manga and traditional Japanese art to give customers a feel of Japan and their culture. However, décor and atmosphere are not the only aspects that set this restaurant apart from the rest.
MENU: ALL
Spicy Maguro Salad (Php 290)
Tuna sashimi cubes and tempura flakes dressed in spicy Japanese mayo and miso topped with black tobiko over fresh salad greens
For starters, we loved the maguro salad that’s a healthier version of the spicy tuna sashimi.
Kushaki Platter (Php 650)
Bacon enoki, asura gyuchizu, shitake mushroom, butabara, and yakitori
The variety and amount of food in this dish makes it the perfect “pulutan” for your next light drinking session.
Nori Tempura (3 pcs Php 240; 5 pcs Php 360; 8 pcs Php 520)
Nori-flavored deep-fried tiger prawn
We always order Soru’s nori-flavored humongous tiger prawn tempura.
It’s tempura with a twist, with the nori adding a little bit more umami to it. A must order!’
Saikoro “Wagyu” Cubes (Php 480)
Iron grilled Saikoro cubes with mixed vegetable
Nothing can really compare to juicy, umami-rich, cubes of grade-A beef that melts in your mouth like butter.
Hiroshima Maki (P290)
Salmon, spicy Japanese mayo, topped with fried gyoza wrapper and salmon sashimi cubes marinated in spicy Soru sauce
Lava Maki (P380)
Salmon skin, crabsticks and tamago topped with salmon and tuna cubes in spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce
If you love spicy tuna and salmon anything, you’ll love this! Both have just the right amount of spicy! But we prefer the Lava Maki more.
Dragons, tigers, mountains, clouds and even landscape paintings- they can probably draw it all.
It is as engaging to the eyes as it is for the taste buds with its dragon art plating. The different colored sauces are made from ingredients like regular mayo, unagi sauce, and sweet sesame soy sauce.
Kuro Dragon Maki (P480)
Freshwater eel, cream cheese and asparagus topped with ebiko and drizzled with teriyaki sauce and Japanese mayo
I love the generous serving of sweet firm unagi. My friends loved the dish as is, but I prefer to eat mine without the asparagus.
Looks to cute to eat!
Oh Umi Maki (Php 390)
Shrimp tempura and salmon cubes with spicy Soru sauce topped with salmon and tempura flakes, drizzled in teriyaki sauce and truffle mayo
I ordered Uni Maki, but I got this instead. Still, it was a good dish that I ended up loving- topped with yummy torched salmon aburi.
Rising Sun Takoyaki (Php 180)
White and red velvet batter, cream cheese, ganache, peanuts, marshmallows, diced peach, and strawberry
Takoyaki, but as a dessert! It’s like a red velvet cupcake inside a fluffy pancake. Definitely a fun take on the traditional dish.
P.S. You can get this for free on your birthday!
Innovation through flavors and passion in culinary artistry, is one of the many ways to summarize Soru Izakaya. The delicious food, laid-back atmosphere, and affordable prices make this restaurant worthy for your next food trip destination!
