In fact, just this year, Siargao, Boracay, and Palawan islands have been ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (respectfully), as the “Top 5 Islands” in all of Aisa. It’s not surprising then, that these prime locations are alluring to travelers from around the globe, people who want to sample the natural beauty of the Philippines.
2018 has been a great year for tourism in the Philippines and 2019 is projected to do even better. So if you are planning a trip to the Philippines for 2019 here are our picks for the best Hotel Resorts to visit in the new year.
#1 Atmosphere (Dumaguete, Philippines)
If you are familiar with the multi-award winning Atmosphere Resorts than you’re probably not surprised that they top our list. Its prime beachfront location is near to some of the best diving locations in the entire Philippines and, the resort is a PADI certified diving training center.
But diving isn’t what makes Atmosphere the bee’s knees of resorts in the Philippines. What sets Atmosphere apart from the rest, is, the wonderful staff and all the people who have put their hearts and souls into making the resort run smoothly, but more importantly, making the resort feel like a home away from home. Excellent staff, excellent service, and excellent food are why Atmosphere is regarded as one of the best dive resorts in Asia.
The resort is also very active in the local community of Dumaguete, running a soup kitchen and supporting local NGOs that are helping the livelihood of the inhabitants in the area.
Eco-friendly and sustainability, not to mention some of the best food you’ll ever have in a Filipino resort, Atmosphere is an example of how to run a resort in the PHL.

#2 Siargao Bleu (Siargao, Philippines)
Siargao Bleu, by far, is one of the better resorts we had the pleasure of staying in. The unique design and architecture perfectly encapsulate, the laid-back provincial feel of the entire island. And while it’s the only Triple-A resort in Siargao, the establishment doesn’t come off as too bourgie or high-class.Perfect for a romantic getaway or with a small group of family or friends, Siargao Bleu is for people who love the island life and, at the same time, know how to relax in style.
Siargao was voted the top island destination in all of Asia for 2018. The island is known for its almost unmatched beauty and world-class surfing.

#5 Siama (Sorsogon, Philippines)
Siama Hotel is one of the most visually stunning and beautifully designed hotels that we’ve had the pleasure of visiting. Inspired by the charming countryside of Sorsogon PHL, Siama seamlessly blends natural and modern architecture into a space that is calm and relaxed yet, at the same time, bold and welcoming.
Sustainability and nature, which are reflected throughout the entire hotel, were the main inspirations that went into the design. Locally sourced materials were used in its construction, and great care was taken to ensure that the hotel has as small an impact on the surrounding environment as possible.
But looks alone isn’t what makes Siama one of our favorite hotels. The service and food are top-notch, and Siama is a great starting point if you plan to visit the many tourist attractions in Sorsogon.
Quietly tucked away on the outskirts of Sorsogon City in the Province of Bicol, Philippines, Siama is a destination perfect for those who appreciate nature, great food and great company.

#8 Funny Lion (Palawan, Philippines)
Coron, Palawan is no stranger to every Filipino’s bucket list. Many Pinoys have never even been to Palawan, but they’ll definitely agree that Coron is one of the most beautiful places in the Philippines.
Having been blessed with precious beaches, limestone cliffs, freshwater lakes, and spectacular diving spots filled with WWII sunken warships, Coron offers unparalleled experiences and picturesque scenery! It’s no wonder Travel+Leisure declared Coron part of the world’s best islands.
There are only a few luxury resorts in Coron. One I highly recommend is The Funny Lion, a safari-themed eco-boutique resort, conveniently located in the heart of Coron Town, 30 minutes away from Busuanga Airport.

#9 Amorita (Bohol, Philippines)
Located atop a limestone cliff on the Southern edge of Panglao, Amorita Resort Bohol offers the best, unobstructed view of Alona Beach and the Cebu Strait. Its secluded location allows guests to enjoy the eco-friendly and luxurious resort in peace.
Amorita Bohol is one of the four properties handled by the One-of-Collection hotel management group. The group promises to deliver one-of-a-kind experiences to guests in all their properties. Our stay at Amorita was undeniably one-of-a-kind.
“Amorita” translates to little darling in Spanish–our sweet and intimate stay in the resort undoubtedly lived up to this namesake.

#10 Huni Sicogon (Iloilo, Philippines)
Huni Sicogon is Ayala Land’s latest venture in Western Visayas. Just opened this July 2018, it is a 52-key, 2-story boutique resort located at Sicogon Tourism Estate.
Sicogon Island is located on the northernmost part of Iloilo, under the municipality of Carles. This island has remained under the radar for the past few years, especially after Yolanda hit and brought casualty to the locals and their livelihood. Ayala is set to turn the island into a tourism estate, much like Lio El Nido.
I had the privilege to be one of the first few to visit the resort in its first week. Here’s what you can expect at Huni:
