Grand Hyatt: Guide to Your Grand Family Staycation in BGC!

❗️As featured in 20 Best Staycations in Manila of the Decade (2020)!

The Grand Hyatt Manila is a most luxurious staycation in the tallest hotel in Manila located in a prestigious address along BGC’s 8th Avenue.

We loved hanging out in the rooms and the Grand Club lounge; going on a food trip from Cantonese food at No.8 China House, to Spanish food at The Cellar, to Western, Filipino and Vegetarian favorites at the Grand Kitchen; and relaxing at the Illume Spa.

Here’s our guide for your next grand family staycation experience in BGC:

Grand Rooms

The awesome view from the 55th floor is breathtaking and makes you feel like you’re living on top of the world.

We stayed in a King Bed Club Access room (45 sqm) with a king size bed, a large wooden desk and a cozy lounge chair area.

The dividing wall slides to reveal a spacious bathroom with a bathtub, lighted mirror, shower with chair, with an elegance coming from the combination of white, silver and marble.

It’s connected to a 2 Double Beds Club Access room with twin beds overlooking the city and a circular glass table in the middle for intimate dining or quiet working moments.

One thing about the rooms is that the bathtub, the shower, the toilet and the walk-in closets are separated, designed for simultaneous access without the need to queue.

Hyatt Has It provides Complimentary To Keep items including guest toiletries, vanity kit, shoe kit, coffee and tea packs.

Loved the concept behind the walk-in closet which serves as your private changing room or a place for the kids to hide.

The elevators are quite fast and you can always feel the pressure going up to the 55th floor.

Grand Club

The Grand Club is probably the best hotel club lounge in Manila in terms of quality of food and drinks and unparalleled views of the metro.

You can choose to dine with the Makati District skyline view during lunch or sunset time.

The lounge is set up like a living room with a large self-service open kitchen in the middle that changes for breakfast or cocktail sessions.

Loved starting with the curated selection of cheeses, cold cuts and bread.

There is a great selection of fresh juices and red, white and sparkling wines for the adults during the cocktail session.

Staycations are the only time we allow the kids to enjoy a soda or two; and the teenager, ginger ale or beer (under supervision, of course).

The highlight of the lounge is its hot kitchen with food freshly prepared by the chefs.

We enjoyed the sunset pre-dinner drinks date with the boys with a backdrop of the silhouette of the Makati or Ortigas skylines.

Grand Breakfast

We preferred the breakfast at the Grand Club because it was well-curated and -prepared, replenished on the spot and offered an inspiring morning view of Manila.

Noodle soup station is available with the selected dim sum of the day.

This was our favorite table because of its proximity to the buffet table and because it gave us the feeling of being high above every building in the surrounding BGC area.

Fresh yogurts, topped with your choice of fruit jams, are available in their own sustainable glass containers.

The boys just love cereals with fresh milk in the morning.

We almost always went for the well-curated breakfast items cooked with loving care by the chefs versus the Grand Kitchen breakfast with a wider selection but hit/miss items.

We usually do intermittent fasting and skip morning meals, but sometimes we just can’t resist enjoying breakfast sessions with the kids.

Grand Hyatt Restaurants

We loved the dining outlets at Grand Hyatt: No. 8 China House, The Cellar and The Grand Kitchen, especially if you know their specialties and what to order.

No. 8 China House: The Grand Hyatt Chinese Lauriat Experience!

The Cellar: The Best of Grand Hyatt BGC’s Spanish Restaurant

The Grand Kitchen: Grand Buffet, Meatless Mondays and Sunday Brunch

Pool

We loved the heated pool and its tropical resort feel. It’s located on the 6th floor and open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

The boys enjoyed going up and down the swim lanes. The hotel provided an appropriate life jacket for the little one.

You can sweat it out in the 24/7 fitness center first before going to the pool area to relax.

Illume Spa

One of our best experiences during our Grand Hyatt staycation is at the Illume spa, with one of the best wet floors areas, extra soft bath robes and awesome massages.

You can hang out in the sauna with walls lined-up with Himalayan salt and all the amenities you need to relax.

The steam room is quite big and can accommodate enough people yet still give you your own private space.

You can dip in the hot pool and take a cold shower after to facilitate proper blood circulation and relaxation.

Best of all is the multi-media shower where you can press the rainforest-themed shower with light and sound show and all around shower.

Typically, we enjoy our massages in-room, but the Illume spa has a couple massage room with all the hotel amenities.

Best to go an hour before your scheduled massage time so that you can enjoy the wet floors and the couple room amenities before your massage.

The massage therapists are well-trained, guaranteed to make you relax and sleep throughout the massage.

Enjoy the Filipino hilot massage to remove all your stress away.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this is one of the best staycations we have had and we highly recommend Grand Hyatt Manila for your family staycations in 2020! Make sure to get the rooms with club access so that you can enjoy the Grand Club during breakfast and cocktail hour. When you go for your swim, don’t miss experiencing the wet floors open to hotel guests and get a massage after.

Make sure to reserve the private rooms of No. 8 China House and commemorate your birthday or other milestones with a special lauriat celebration. The Cellar is quite romantic at night with one of the best Spanish food in the metro. Don’t miss Sunday Brunch or Meatless Mondays at The Grand Kitchen. Kids are not allowed at The Peak so we were not able to dine there with the boys and, therefore, not included in this feature.

One thing though is that they don’t have specific kids’ playroom areas or interactive activities for the little ones during the Sunday cross-over brunch.

Congratulations to the Grand Hyatt Manila team for providing a grand family staycation experience in the metro!

We were media guests of Grand Hyatt Manila.  I wrote this article with my biases, opinions and insights.

P.S. Hoping they provide more sustainable toiletries that use less plastic.
