Balay Indang // Nature Retreat (2022)

Balay Indang is back and slowly recovering from the financial effects and maintenance realities of the pandemic. We love Balay because it has always been managed with love by Marge and Fulgent who take care of every guest escaping in Indang.

Balay Indang

We stayed in St. Mary Room of Cottage 2 which is directly in front of the pavilion where the swimming pool is located.

The loft room, perfect for our family of 6, is a place to just hang out.

Only thing with the room is that it is surrounded by windows without dark curtains so the morning light will wake you up, whether you like it or not.

The teenagers had their own private place upstairs with single beds and air-conditioning where they could use their gadgets in peace.

Their signature restroom has pebbles for added outdoor effect. There’s hot and cold shower, separate from the toilet. Just make sure to bring your own toiletries.

Breakfast

Breakfast is always a treat with your usual Filipino favorites with some surprises. If you stay for multiple days, there’s no repetition of dishes but you can always request if you have a particular favorite.

It is usually a complete breakfast meal with egg, vegetables, fish, meat with hot chocolate. It’s hard to resist when you are doing intermittent fasting.

We had the pool all to ourselves. The water is warm during summer and gets cold during the BER season. It’s chlorinated and cleaned everyday of nature’s debris.

Lunch

It was a day when there were not a lot of guests, and we ate our lunch at the Main House instead of the communal dining area.

The kids favorites were the soy glazed chicken and liempo while the parents loved the shrimps and dried fish.

Yes, Balay Indang now has a yummy vegetarian menu available upon request! The vegan tacos, pansit, bagoong rice and lumpia were quite good and the kids did not notice any difference.

Merienda

One of our favorite things to do in Balay is to have a rejuvenating Hilot massage. Make sure to book Ate Diane for hilot massage ₱500/hour.

Tip: The kids insisted on having their own massage and we allotted 30 minutes for them to have a back and leg massage.

Merienda was also a treat with corn dog, otap and juice. The boys insisted on attacking all at the same time to get their fair share.

Dinner

This dining hall has a lot of New Year’s Eve celebration memories and will always be part of our family traditions.

Dinner is my personal favorite because of their yummy steak, baked salmon, cellos served with fresh garden salad and their signature dalandan juice.

On other nights, they serve pomelo salad, skewered shrimp, barbecue ribs and chili pompano. Lahat masarap—yum!

Final Thoughts

Balay Indang has been our go-to place for a relaxing 3-day escape from our everyday life.

We have always liked our stay in Balay Indang because of:
✅ Variety of yummy dishes every meal—vegetables, fish, pork, beef and chicken (Now, offering vegetarian dishes upon request);

✅ Plenty of space for privacy (and now for social distancing) that you rarely bump into other guests;

✅ The pool surrounded by nature which the boys loved, of course;

✅ Internet access now available in the pavilion and main house dining area; and

✅ The fact that it is managed with love by the family of Marge and Fulgent 💚

Thank you Marge for saving Balay Indang and continuing to operate it as a passion project despite the challenges of maintaining it to offer a restful escape to all your guests. Go, go, go!
