Yawaragi’s Kisetsu // Best Japanese Seafood Sunday Lunch Buffet @ Hotel Okura (First Look)

Yawaragi’s Kisetsu Weekend Buffet at Hotel Okura specializes in 70% Japanese Seafood and 30% Filipino and international cuisine. They serve the Best Japanese Seafood buffet during Sunday Lunch with a dining area dominated by a mesmerizing drift wood sculpture that promotes good fortune and long life.

We love the eat-all-you-can Japanese seafood which you don’t usually find in any high end hotel buffet, the drink-all-you-can wines + cocktails, and the Japanese desserts.

Here is our first look at Yawaragi’s buffet and suggested plan of attack.

JAPANESE SEAFOOD 🦞🦪🦀

You have to be here before the buffet opens at exactly 12:00noon. A lot of people literally attack this raw seafood spread.

Note: Make sure to get as many as you can consume. No leftovers please.

We enjoyed eating the plump Irish Oysters. We like them raw or maybe with vinegar. You have the option to have them baked or simply grilled.

We indulged in the Boston Lobster and the big King Crabs from Japan market.

I love them simply grilled. Enjoyed the freshness of the meat with a bit of sweetness from the grilling.

Another yummy specialty was the ebi tempura, and we had as many as we could eat.

I loved their Japanese hotpot with salmon that cleansed the palate for more buffet enjoyment.

We also loved the tuna and salmon sashimi with wasabi.

The Japanese seafood paired perfectly with the seafood paella.

There are other meats available but most of them are cooked well-done including the fried tonkatsu, chicken, and pork which can be tough once they cool down. I like my meats cooked medium and still juicy when I bite into them.

FREE-FLOW DRINKS 🍷🥂🍹

To complete the celebration, there is free flowing champagnes, wines, sake, Japanese Beers, cocktails, mocktails, and buko juice!

Yes, you can enjoy the drinks all throughout from 12:00nn to 2:30pm.

There are cocktails served in roving bar carts, and our favorites were the highball and cocktail.

The highball is made with Nikka Whisky, yuzu, and ginger ale.

The kids loved the cocktail made from orange juice, grenadine, and soda water.

JAPANESE DESSERTS 🍡🍰🎂

We loved the Japanese Buffet spread, the first station that greets you in the buffet.

We also love the chocolate almond truffles, the dessert mess table, and the Japanese cakes.

You can celebrate your birthday with the different cakes. Our favorites were the pistachio opera and the black sesame cake.

The best were the chocolate mochi and the black sesame mochi. The kids loved the mini pancakes.

We also liked the Wasabi Chocolate Pudding with Strawberry Custard Sauce.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, this is the best Japanese Sunday Lunch Buffet with overflowing drinks and Japanese desserts that we enjoyed! Prioritize the Irish Oysters, Boston Lobsters, King Crab and Ebi Tempura because these are the first items that get literally wiped out. This is one of those buffets where you don’t want to arrive late so be there when it opens at 12:00noon. Use the hotpot soup, digestif drinks, and some fresh dalandan to clean your palate in between plates.

This buffet though gets mixed reactions because the meats are cooked well done and over fried. Having said that, the kids loved the buffet and were full already after 2 plates followed by dessert. I wish my kids were older already so we could enjoy drinking the free flowing wines together.

The mesmerizing drift wood installation, together with the whole architecture, was awesome! It transports you to an appetizing Japanese setting that is ideal for celebrating family milestones.
