Make sure to reserve one of the five island cabanas for added privacy in a tucked away outdoor area.

Club DJ Teejay P. Subahri @king.subahri spinned to create a chill-out mood with techno tunes.

Chill-out Friday Menu: Limited Menu, Assorted Platter | Beverage Menu | Whisky, Desserts | Wine

There’s no “entrance fee” and you pay a la carte based on the limited menu.

Service was Nobu-style awesome, and you can ask for their recommendations.

NOBU COLD DISHES

Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño (₱880)(₱440)

A must try signature dish which was gone in a few seconds because of the nice jalapeño kick.

Nobu Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, Salmon or Crab (₱690)(₱345)

This was a good interactive pica pica—dip the fried rice cubes into the soy sauce and top it with your choice of seafood.

Salmon Tatami with Karachi Su Miso (₱990)(₱495)

You’ll love the quality of the salmon thingy, sliced, seared, and served with their velvety miso.

NOBU SOJU ₱230/glass ₱115/glass

The sashimi went well with sake or soju which was a good drink to get you in the mood.

GINJO NIGORI (Bottle 500ml ₱2,195 ₱1,098)
NOBU JUNMAI DAIGINJO “THE SAKE” (Bottle 500ml ₱4,200 ₱2,100)
NOBU SOJU (Glass ₱230 ₱115, Bottle 750ml ₱2,850 ₱1,425)
NOBU SPECIAL RESERVE (Bottle 750ml ₱3,500 ₱1.750)

Get a bottle for the group specially if you are celebrating a milestone or achievement at work.

NOBU SALAD

Sashimi Salad (₱980)(₱490)

The salads were quite filling, so you can indulge as much as you want. I loved their sashimi salad which you can eat with the greens and their special sauce.

Salmon Skin Salad (₱780)(₱390)

This one was more of a dry salad with textures from the salmon skin and fish meat toppings.

Mixed Seafood Ceviche (₱820) (₱410)

Loved this also with tomato, cucumber, and sashimi served in a towering presentation.

Best to order all the three salads for variety. Good to share.

The Nobu cocktails though need improvement because they were either sweet or weird. Skip.

SUSHI / MAKI

Nobu Manila’s sushi was good courtesy of Chef Keiichi Hirukawa, who has 20+ years of sushi experience and was assigned in Nobu Malibu before coming to Manila before the pandemic.

House Special (₱650)(₱325)
Soft Shell Crab (₱620)(₱310)

The sushi/maki plate was also quite filling and good to share as pica-pica. After a few drinks, it was hard to tell the difference between what was in between the rice.

KUSHIYAKI

Vegetables (₱320)(₱160)
Chicken (₱400)(₱200)
Shrimp (₱720)(₱360)

Highly recommended, the highlight of the meal aside from the sashimi. Each order came with 2 sticks and served as a platter. Loved the chicken and shrimp dipped in the sauce.

NIGIRI & SASHIMI

Salmon Nigiri (₱280/pc)(₱140/pc)
Tamago (₱150/pc)( ₱75/pc)

I preferred the nigiris over the makis because the meat was the highlight more than the egg.

NOBU TACOS

NOBU TACOS (minimum order of two pieces)
Pork, soy shallot (₱230)(₱115)
Salmon, spicy miso (₱220)(₱110)
Tuna, tomato salsa (₱240)(₱120)

The tacos were the best, served Nobu style with high quality meat and miso/special sauces.

HOT DISHES

Rock Shrimp Tempura (₱1,200)(₱600)
with Creamy Spicy, Creamy Jalapeño or Butter Ponzu

This is our Nobu favorite, and you can enjoy it for half its price. Big chunks of shrimps served with a creamy spicy sauce. Must order.

Black Cod Butter Lettuce (₱420/pc) (₱210/pc)

You can enjoy their signature black cod served like a taco with lettuce wrap. Yum!

Hakushu 12 year (₱840/shot, ₱16,240/bottle) (₱420/shot, ₱8,120/bottle)

My kind of chill out Friday, enjoying premium Japanese whisky with family and friends.

DESSERTS

NOBU HALO-HALO (₱420)(₱210)
Coconut Water Snow, Yuzu Gelee, Green Tea Crisps, Adzuki Bean, Coconut Sesame Mochi, Sweet Condensed Milk & Ube Ice Cream

The best thing about this chill-out Friday was enjoying their signature Nobu Halo-Halo with Japanese ingredients for a Nobu twist.

NOBU CHEESECAKE (₱440)(₱220)

The cheesecake was also good, with a nice cheese flavor, right creaminess and balanced taste.

Cappuccino

Pair it with coffee for the best experience (and to keep you awake if you are still driving after).

MISO CAPPUCINO (₱385) (₱192.5)
Candied Pecans, Miso Creameux, Cappuccino Foam & Vanilla Ice Cream

You can also try their signature cappuccino foam with miso and ice cream.

UBE / MATCHA ICE CREAM (₱100/scoop ₱50/scoop)

Even their ice cream was quite good—you can taste the matcha and ube flavors.

Green Tea

Nobody wanted to leave when the DJ set was done at 10:00pm, so we lazily enjoyed our green tea until it was time to say goodbye.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, this is the best Friday happy hour in Manila where you can enjoy high quality and healthy food—salad, sushi, sashimi, tacos, and kushiyaki—while you also drink the same high quality Japanese soju, whisky, and wine. Of course, an awesome night is not complete without good halo-halo and desserts. The price of the food at 50% off is like that of ordinary Japanese restaurants. You end the night satisfied, not bloated, and with memories to rave about.

Congrats and thank you to Nobu Manila for the Chill-out Fridays concept!

P.S. Parking is free at City of Dreams, and it is a bit of a walk passing through the casino to reach Nobu Hotel. There’s no valet parking yet.
