Ruby Jack’s Free Flow Weekend Brunch: Is It Worth It?

Ruby Jack’s offers a Free Flow Brunch every Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for ₱4,000 per person, featuring an all-you-can-eat steak plated buffet. Is it worth it for the wide range of premium dishes on the menu, or is ordering specific à la carte items a better option? Here are some tips to help you get the most out of the weekend buffet if you decide to try it.

ABOUT RUBY JACK’S

Ruby Jack’s has relocated from City of Dreams Manila to The Shops at Ayala Triangle Gardens, on the Makati Avenue side. This side is slightly tucked away but offers direct access to the gardens.

FREE FLOW FRIDAY-SUNDAY BRUNCH
11:00 AM to 4:00 PM | ₱4,000
Inclusive of VAT but +10% service charge

We tried it with the family, and the format is to order one starter at a time, two main dishes at a time, two side dishes at a time, and then dessert. You can reorder as soon as each dish is finished. The boys get to choose what they want, and it gives us a chance to chat about their favorites.

What I love about this type of buffet is that each order is freshly prepared and cooked to order, served in smaller 100g portions compared to the larger à la carte servings.

STARTERS

The Yorkshire pudding is served with a crispy exterior and a light, fluffy interior, pairing perfectly with the roast beef and clam chowder. Be sure to ask for extra butter to enjoy it fully.

RUBY’S CAESAR SALAD (à la carte – ₱700)

This is delicious—each leaf comes with Caesar dressing and grated cheese. The kids love it, and you can order as much as you want for a healthy start.

RUBY’S CLAM CHOWDER (à la carte – ₱700)

The clam chowder is rich and creamy, served hot to warm up your palate. Dip the Yorkshire pudding in it for a bit of crunch and added flavor.

MAINS

JOHN DEE 200D GRAIN FED CUBE ROLL ROASTED BEEF (Choice of Butter Seared or Classic)

The roast beef comes as a thick slice, best enjoyed medium, with a satisfying mix of textures—the rich fat, seared crust, and tender center.

Tip: Start by ordering the main proteins to fully enjoy the steak and meats.

JOHN DEE 200D GRAIN FED CUBE ROLL STEAK (a la carte 400g – ₱4,500)

If you’re looking for a good-sized steak, this one delivers. While ribeye and other cuts aren’t on the brunch menu, this has enough fat, tendon, and flavor to satisfy. It’s served in 100g portions—perfect for one, but feel free to order more.

STEAK & EGGS- JACK’S CREEK FLANK STEAK-MB3 (a la carte 200g – ₱2,800)

If you’re in a brunchy mood, create your own wagyu steak silog version. The small slices of flank steak are meaty, tender, and best enjoyed medium.

FLAME GRILLED KUROBUTA PORK CHOPS (a la carte – ₱2,000)

One thing to note about this buffet is that the cooking can sometimes be inconsistent. The pork chops, for example, are marinated in herb oil, which can give them a slightly bitter or unusual flavor. We didn’t particularly enjoy this dish, but it might still be worth a try.

TWICE COOKED SMOKED PRIME DOUBLE LAMB CHOP (a la carte – ₱2,000)

The lamb chops are the best and a favorite among all the boys. They’re perfectly char-grilled on the outside, tender on the inside, with just the right amount of fat and tendon near the bone.

CHAR GRILLED HAMACHI TUNA (a la carte – ₱1,500)

The quality of the Hamachi tuna wasn’t great, or perhaps it was the way it was cooked.

TEPPAN GRILLED TASMANIAN SALMON (a la carte – ₱1,700)

This is also the best—cooked perfectly medium, still juicy, and topped with crispy skin.

THE LITTLE JACK BURGER (a la carte – ₱1,000)

The burger patty was thick, cooked medium, and very flavorful. The boys loved it.

CHAR GRILLED STEAK SANDWICH (a la Carte – ₱700)

The steak sandwich is meaty and tender, making it easy to enjoy on its own, though the bread is a bit heavy.

THE RJ WAGYU BOLOGNESE (a la carte – ₱1,400)

It’s nice that they included a pasta option with homemade flat pasta, wagyu Bolognese sauce, and freshly grated cheese on top.

FLAME GRILLED CHICKEN

We ordered the chicken for variety; it was just okay—grilled and still juicy.

SMOKED HAM BENEDICTS (a la carte – ₱1,200)

By the time we tried the Benedicts, we were already full, but the smoked ham was better.

TASMANIAN SALMON BENEDICTS (a la carte – ₱1,200)

The smoked salmon was better enjoyed on its own, though it was still good with the egg and hollandaise sauce.

SIDES

SAUTEED SHIMEJI MUSHROOMS (a la carte – ₱700)
TRUFFLE CREAM CORN (a la carte – ₱500)
CREAMED SPINACH (a la carte – ₱350)
FRIED HAND CUT FRIES (a la carte – ₱250)

The creamed spinach and shimeji mushrooms were the standout side dishes.

WAGYU STEAK RICE (a la carte – ₱450)
MASHED POTATOES (a la carte – ₱300)

My favorite was the wagyu steak rice to pair with the meats and steak, though it does fill you up quickly.

DESSERTS

HALF BAKED COOKIE (a la carte – ₱500)

This was so good that we ordered it three times to satisfy our craving. It’s best to ask for the ice cream on the side and pair the cookie with a coffee for the perfect treat.

PECAN PIE (a la carte – ₱400)

The Pecan Pie is equally good on its own, with just the right sweetness and pair it with coffee.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, we really enjoyed the steak brunch after Sunday Mass, from noon until 3 p.m. The buffet is sulit for big appetites who love steak, though it may not be as worthwhile for younger kids. Start creatively, perhaps with the Wagyu Steak Silog, then try the John Dee Roast Beef, Cube Roll Steak, Australian Lamb Chops, and Tasmanian Salmon. Order shimeji mushrooms and creamed spinach on the side for added flavor.

Most of us ordered six mains each, making the ₱4,000 price worthwhile given the quality. This experience feels like fine dining—ideal for special celebrations, birthdays, or milestones. It’s best enjoyed with friends who appreciate quality Australian steak and lamb, complete with proper sides, starters, sauces, and desserts. Focus on the proteins and go easy on carbs like rice, mashed potatoes, and bread. Also, avoid iced tea or soda at the start, as they can fill you up quickly. Wine pairing would have been a nice addition to refresh the palate.

Congratulations to the Ruby Jack’s service team for providing an enjoyable Sunday brunch!
