THE MAGIC TABLE in Manila – Is it Worth it?

The Magic Table 3D Dining Experience is finally in Manila, brought to us by Grand Hyatt Manila! ✨🪄It elevates the 3D dining concept far beyond Le Petit Chef, introducing interactive magic that goes beyond watching—you actually get to perform the magic yourself. Paired with engaging, educational storytelling that explores the history of magic and draws inspiration from legendary illusionists, the experience is hosted on video by world-renowned mentalists The Clairvoyants—Thommy Ten and Amélie van Tass—alongside live dinner hosts who guide guests through the magical journey (note: there is no live magic performance).

But beyond the I🍽️✨ 3D table mapping, the question remains: is this magical 5-course meal worth it?

THE WIZARD’S ESSENTIAL MENU

Imagine dining atop the tallest building in BGC, on a penthouse floor transformed into a 3D-mapping dining experience, with sweeping views of the Manila sunset.

Book the coveted 6:30 PM time slot and arrive early for sunset cocktails—the golden hour from this vantage point is simply magical. 🌇✨

Wear the cape—it gives you full superhero magician vibes. 🪄✨ (you can choose your color)

The tables are arranged in blocks of four due to the projector layout, so it’s perfect for a double date—either to team up with your partner or hope for fun seatmates. There’s also a long eight-seater table ideal for a family or a barkada.

CANUPLIN HIGHBALL (Php 650). gin, toasted japanese rice, banana liquor, fever tree soda
ILLUSION NO. 1 (Php 650). rum, ube mix, pandan syrup

I’d go for the highball—less sweet, bubbly, and refreshingly clean on the palate. The ube cocktail leans more dessert-style, so it’s best saved for the end.

The cocktails are decent, but at this price point, what you’re really paying for is the view—and the bragging rights of saying you had cocktails in the penthouse. 🍸✨

A SPELL OF THE FOREST
Forest & Porcini Mushroom Pâté hazelnut soil, fig, lemon, pistachio manuka honey

This is prepared in the open kitchen as you arrive, so you immediately see how intricate and meticulous the first appetizer course is. Every element is delicious—especially the hazelnut soil—with the mushroom pâté in a crisp shell, topped with mushroom, as the standout. Guaranteed wiped clean – panalo!

OLIVIER TRICON DOMAINE DE VAUROUX CHABLIS (Php 720/ glass).
burgundy, france

My wife commented, “ang sarap ng white wine,” and I knew you can never go wrong starting the meal with a chablis—especially since it pairs beautifully with the next seafood course.

ENCHANTED SHELL
Butter Poached Hokkaido Scallop herb crust, sun-dried tomato crustaccan bisque

The big, juicy scallops are coated in a herby, crusty texture that pairs beautifully with the seafood bisque and ikura—best enjoyed with the Chablis. Masarap!

I love how the edible elements are thoughtfully placed in a smaller bowl, clearly separated from the decorative shells, rocks, and seaweed (so you don’t accidentally eat them). With the lighting projection, the dish takes on an almost glowing effect.

Each course comes with a magic trick you need to successfully perform—like unlocking a box with the correct combination—before you can move on to the next dish.

I won’t go into detail and spoil the surprises, but the tricks aren’t just cute—they genuinely make you wonder: how did they do that table magic? 🪄 Perfect as a conversation starter before the next course.

THE ALCHEMY OF THE SEA
Crab Meat & Codfish Brandade sake-marinated ikura, avocado

We loved the crabmeat and codfish brandade, a silky seafood spread perfect with your bread “magic wand.” The spiked ikura adds a fun popping sensation with every bite. Light yet satisfying—definitely more bread, please!

“What kind of magician are you?”

I loved how they leaned into the geeky side of magic, weaving in stories of legendary illusionists throughout history. It reminds you that we’re all magicians in our own way—each with our own unique magic powers. ✨🪄

THE ORDER OF FIRE
Mulwarra Tenderloin Beef Wellington bone marrow & café de paris butter jus

We loved their Beef Wellington, a true standout made with medium-rare Mulwarra—Australia’s best grass-fed and Wagyu meat.

Honestly, it surpasses Gordon Ramsay’s version: the crust is perfectly flaky, the duxelle is rich and flavorful, and the bone marrow jus adds incredible umami. For extra indulgence, you can add foie gras and truffle for Php 1,000.

NICOLAS POTEL BOURGOGNE PINOT NOIR (Php 840/ glass)
burgundy, france

The medium-bodied Burgundy red pairs beautifully with the Beef Wellington—it doesn’t overpower the dish, but adds a subtle layer of flavor that complements each bite of the steak.

The final magical puzzle was so creative, and we thoroughly enjoyed the interactive table magic—leaving you craving what a Season 2 of The Magic Table might bring.

This fire trick in fine dining never fails to impress—a perfectly fiery reveal for the dessert. 🔥🍰

THE FINAL ILLUSION
Chocolate & Hazelnut Sphere chocolate brownie, cherry sorbet coffee infused chocolate sauce

The Chocolate, Hazelnut, Coffee, and Cherry Sorbet finale was perfect—indulgent but not heavy, not too sweet, and hits all the right sweet-craving notes to end the meal.

FINAL THOUGHTS

What a magical fine dining feast, set against the majestic BGC skyline and the Manila sunset. 🌇✨

Every course was delicious, leaving everyone satisfied with matching “masarap!” oohs and aahs. This experience is perfect for older kids and offers a better overall dining experience than Le Petit Chef, thanks to the interactive table magic rather than just watching a tiny chef.

The Beef Wellington alone makes the price worth it, with the seafood courses building up beautifully to the main highlight. Kudos to the new executive chef of Grand Hyatt Manila!

Budget: around Php 10,000 per head for this unique magical dining experience.

Is it worth it? That really depends on the milestone you’re celebrating or the stage of dating you’re at with your special someone—this is the kind of experience made for memorable, “wow” moments. ✨

Can’t wait for what’s magical in Season 2 of The Magic Table.
