Alagaw leaves are used like lumpia wrapper and have a distinct felt-like texture. Appreciating alagaw leaves is an acquired taste. Some people like the tingling sensation from the leaf, while others don’t like its aftertaste.
You can put green chili, mango, onions, garlic, ginger, basil, shrimps and a secret sweet dark sauce with nuts inside the alagaw leaves. Then, you wrap it like a lumpia and eat it. π
Crescent Moon Cafe is only open during lunch time (12nn to 2pm) from Tuesdays to Saturdays (P350/head set meal) and every Sunday (P450/head set meal). There is no predetermined menu. The menu of the day depends on the available fresh ingredients. The set meal comes with the alagaw appetizer, soup, the main dishes of fish/seafood/chicken, vegetables, and its signature suman/mango dessert.
The meal starts with the alagaw appetizer and soup.
Below are the samples of the main dishes (it changes every day and they only know what’s on the menu on the day itself):
A chicken dish is usually served curry style. The curry sauce is light and tastes like it was cooked by your mom at home.
Shrimps… I usually like my shrimps served halabos style.
Labong vegetable dish. This is a very Filipino dish but only a few people can appreciate it. π
Fish Fillet with Sweet Chili Sauce. Not too oily, just crispy perfect with the sweet sauce.
Don’t miss Crescent Moon’s signature suman with mango for dessert!
Β
Your kids can explore the garden, cafe or studio. Aidan and Joshua had fun feeding the koi. π
Β
The kids could also feed the pet turtles who stare at you hypnotically when they are hungry.
The outdoor wash basin was interestingly designed for kids. π
Rache’s favorite place is the pottery bargain at the back of the cafe.
Β
You can buy plates, saucers, cups or containers for your home or your restaurant business. π
Β
All of the items are on sale for P200 per kilo only. Some of the items have minor defects while some were rejected by their customers for some reason. Since it is pottery art, sometimes imperfection is OK.
We bought a very nice cake stand and a couple of bowls.
Driving Directions (from Waypoints.ph)
First objective here is to get to Antipolo. Β For those who are not familiar with how to get to Antipolo, you can start from the EDSA shrine at the intersection of EDSA and Ortigas Avenue. From the EDSA shrine, head eastward along Ortigas Avenue all the way (about 10+km) to the Tikling Highway junction at the foot of the mountains of Antipolo. At the junction, follow the road to the left. This will take you through winding roads up to the mountain until you reach a Y-junction with a monument and the big Ynares Center building behind it. This is now Antipolo.
At the Y-junction in Antipolo, follow the road veering southward to the right. This is a circumferential road; follow the road as it loops back eastward, passing through the following landmarks: Unciano Medical Center on the right, Imperial Theater on the left, a major junction, and then a Uniwide Store on the right until you see a Flying-V Gasoline station behind a tri-forked junction. At the junction, just follow the road veering southeastward to the right. 850 meters from the junction, after a Shell gasoline station and the Milagros Subdivision entrance on the right side, turn right on Ascension Road. Lanelle’s Crescent Moon Cafe is just 240 meters down Ascension Road on the left side.

Im interested in the pottery. Thanks for the tip. yayain ko si hubs one of these days.
hi anton!! please keep me updated on your next trip π
Last time I ate at Crescent moon was 11 years ago. I was still into pottery back then and our class once used their kiln. Glad to see they’re still around. I miss their alagaw appetizer. π
thanks!
This is awesome… Btw, did you find the food worth it? Looking at it from the pictures seem that their servings were a little small…
I dunno, or maybe its just me lol…
The price is worth it and you can order “refills” if kulang since that is
the only food naman for that day.
Labong …yummmm hehehehe only if it is ginataan, anything ginataan is good!
I really don’t get the cheese fondue at Vieux Chalet, it had an alcoholic taste, expensive pati. The chef said na ganun daw talaga yung taste. Crescent Moon’s food is ordinary. We kept going back for dinner just for the “ambulance.” We also enjoyed looking at the stars. I don’t remember seeing any pottery c. 2000-01.
i hope you post about that antipolo food tour soon.. i will be an antipolo resident in about 2 years from now π
btw, on your way back from antipolo, try Marikina’s famous Rocha’s puto. not sure if it was already featured here. Lucio tan’s wife is a fan of Rocha’s.. but make sure you call and do an advance order, i don’t think they accept walk-ins π
Can you give me directions to Rocha’s Puto in Marikina?
anton
lanelle’s pottery is stoneware so it’s oven and microwave safe. even dishwasher safe. just don’t put it straight to the flame. π
