Thank you to all our blogger friends and foodies who joined the @SMMegaMall #MegaFoodTour2.0!
Here is a summary of the 9-Course Walking Degustation Tour of @SMMegaMall’s Latest Restos, which you can use as a guide for your own food trip in SM Mega Fashion Hall…
COURSE #1 (Appetizer): IPPUDO’s World’s Famous Ramen
IPPUDO is the most popular Hakata-style Tonkotsu (pork-based) ramen in the world. It was founded in 1985 by Ramen King Shigemi Kawahara in Fukuoka City, Kyushu.
Its name literally means “One Wind Hall” and is symbolic for the restaurant’s going against the wind and revolutionizing the ramen era of the time. It was the first shop to offer ramen in a carefully crafted setting, so that both men and women can enjoy an elegant bowl of noodle soup. It was also the first to refer to its broth by colour Shiro (white) for the classic and Aka (red) for spicy.
After months of waiting, Ippudo Philippines has finally opened to complete the Ramen Craze in Manila. 🙂

SONJA is credited for having started the Cupcake Craze in Manila since 2006, and is to blame for the Filipinos’ love for the Red Velvet flavor.

They now also serve cakes in a cup for those dessert treats that can’t be made into a normal cupcake.
Another happy dessert is their signature Birthday Milkshake. A bit sweet but very addicting.

Course #6 (Main Course): ERI CURRY’s Japanese Curry
ERI CURRY is a local Japanese curry brand concept by Chef Erica, a Filipina Chef who grew up in Japan and is very passionate about Japanese food. Its name means Goddess of Curry, and is also unofficially inspired by the name of the chef.
The Japanese Curry craze is still not taking off in Manila because of its strong curry flavor that Filipinos aren’t familiar with. Eri Curry aims to address this by having a sweeter, more Filipinized curry flavor, a Customize-Your-Own Curry option, and a Chef/Model to promote the brand.

Course #7 (Main Course): TRIPLE-O’s Burger, Sweet Potato Fries, & Milkshake
TRIPLE-O’s is the burger joint spinoff of the White Spot Family Restaurant in Canada, with international branches in China, Hongkong, Singapore, and now finally in Manila.
It’s named after its trademark “Triple-O” hamburger sauce (made of mayonnaise and hamburger relish). The name of the sauce itself came from the shorthand language used by the original order takers (known as carhops) to indicate the guests’ choice of extra mayo and/or relish. A Triple “O” on the order slip meant “plenty of everything”.
People who have travelled to or live in Canada are familiar with the brand and excited about the opening of the Manila branch.
