Mott 32 Update: MOTT 32 CEBU @ NUSTAR // Is it Worth It?
MOTT 32 is one of the most raved about Modern Chinese Restaurants in Hong Kong. It was established by Maximal Concepts and is located at the basement of Standard Chartered Bank Building. Its name is a tribute to NYC’s first Chinese convenience store, which opened in 1851 on 32 Mott Street, New York.
They say eating dimsum will never be the same after you try Mott 32. Here’s our experience…

You’ll find Mott 32 at Central, Hong Kong. You can take the train to Central and take Exit K to Statue Square.
You’ll see the sign for Mott 32 by the staircase that leads to the main lobby of the Standard Charter Building.
The restaurant opens exactly at 12nn. You need to have a reservation, especially during Sunday Lunch.
(TIP: Make sure to pre-order the Barbecue Pluma Iberico Pork with your reservation)
You are escorted down a long escalator to the basement.
The stairs of mirrors and chains seem to transport you to the underbelly of the building.
The basement restaurant’s elegant design is by Joyce Wang. It’s a cross of New York industrial chic and Chinese imperial charm.
MOTT 32 Menu: House Tea | Mott Signature Cocktails | Mott Classics | Mocktails | BBQ | Dimsum Steamed | Siu Mai | Baked Dimsum | Fried Dimsum | Dessert Dimsum
Order the Tie Guan Yin tea (HK$25/person) to start off your meal.
Barbecue Pluma Iberico Pork, Yellow Mountain Honey (HK$295) (Limited Daily)
Close your eyes and savor the barbecue tenderness of this tasty Iberico pork glazed with a different kind of sweetness from the Yellow Mountain Honey.
Signature Crispy Sugar Coated BBQ Iberico Pork Bun (HK$65)
We started with two sweet dishes for some reason. This is Mott 32’s version of Baked BBQ Pork Buns.
It was a bit thin with a small filling of pork. The disappointment among all the dimsum we tried.
Crab & Caviar, Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings (HK$95/4pcs.)
We like that the soup was served super hot, with umami flavors from the crab, caviar, and Iberico pork.
Soft Quail Egg, Iberico Pork, Black Truffle Siu Mai (HK$70/2 pcs.)
The pork siomai was already tasty by itself, but was made extra special with the pairing of soft quail egg and black truffle. Eat this in one bite for best results.
South Australian Scallop Air Dried Pork Floss (HK$75/4pcs.)
Another dimsum variation with scallop and shredded pork floss to give it a different texture.
Rache couldn’t help but eat all the dimsum at the same time. Our boys would have loved it here.
I don’t like how they serve their chili with salty soy sauce though.
Make sure to pre-order the Apple Wood Roasted 42 Days Peking Duck a day in advance, especially if you’re with a big group.
Japanese Potato Dumpling, Almond Sauce (HK$60/3 pcs.)
This was like fried purple yam. It was just OK.
Soy Sauce Ice Cream (HK$45/scoop)
It’s quite interesting how a salty soy sauce could be turned into a yummy ice cream flavor. A nice ending to our wonderful meal.
We highly recommend MOTT 32 on your next visit Hong Kong with family or special someone.

P.S. Using the restroom is also quite the experience.
There’s a communal wash basin at the center for men and women.
Even the men’s room had a very relaxing vibe to it.
