Updated Blog Post: BURROW CAFE: Best Underground Cafe in Manila! (A Review)
ANTIPOLO BEEHOUSE is the exciting creative space and residence of Vitty and Marie Gutierrez in Antipolo, Rizal. Its name is an homage to the nesting bees the couple found on the property when they first settled here.
Built and designed by Vitty himself, st’s a popular pre-nuptial venue for those looking for something rustic and homey. Vitty is also known in their family for cooking delicious Filipino food, which they’ve started to share via private dining at The Burrow, their underground living and dining space surrounded by the forest and with a view of the stream.
We recently had our mastermind session at The Burrow and got to taste what The Beehouse has to offer. Here’s what you can expect…

Antipolo Beehouse is one hour away from Makati/BGC via Ortigas Avenue extension going up to Beverly Hills in Antipolo.
ANTIPOLO BEEHOUSE
The Beehouse was built in 2014 to showcase Vitty’s passion for building. He is a mining engineer by profession.
The main living area has an open plan design with large glass windows…
…which showcase the natural surroundings.
We love the wood designs, symmetric patterns, and assorted Machuca tiles stairs.
You’ll find wooden animal carvings lie this all over the house, which are made by local carvers in Antipolo then decorated by Marie, who is also a professional calligrapher.
The upper level sometimes transforms into a venue for their home-based annual events like an Artisan Bazaar, or for intimate gatherings, or a even creative studio for pre-nup shoots.
Spot this mang-tataho sculpture and other beautiful artworks around the house.
The lower level is the private residence where the bedrooms are located. These can be rented for couples who want to shoot in the master’s bedroom.
THE BURROW
The Burrow is located adjacent to The Beehouse, with a separate entrance that goes “underground”.
Below is a creative space that’s like a blank canvas, with large panel windows showcasing the surrounding lush forest.
You have to meet the lovely Marie and her family when you dine here.
The drink is made from tanglad with kamote leaf, served with Antipolo cashews.
The venue was perfect for our mastermind session, with a wide long table good for 10 people, and a conducive space to talk about strategies, hopes, and personal challenges.
Fresh pako salad with salted egg, tomato, and onions to start the lunch.
The soup was fresh, home-cooked Linagang Baka served super hot. It’s simple but nourishing to a Filipino’s soul.
Shrimps in butter and garlic served without the heads. Yum!
Pasta served with Kaldereta-inspired tomato sauce.
The barbecue was really good. It was tender and full of Pinoy BBQ flavor with a good meat-to-fat ratio. This is based on a secret recipe from Vitty’s family.
Congratulations to Vitty & Marie on The Burrow concept and the delicious Filipino food during our mastermind lunch.
Dessert was suman and a slice of sweet mango which is Marie’s favorite dessert from Crescent Moon Cafe in Antipolo.
Vitty also serves coffee. He likes to ground the beans fresh and brew upon your order.
You can order the cold brew, which is perfect with the suman-mangga dessert.
We love visiting places that are just starting out. We were practically the first dining guests at The Burrow. There’s no doubt that it will be one of the successful private dining places in the Metro, serving sustainable Filipino cuisine with local ingredients from within the vicinity of Antipolo.
While I loved the homey tinola, the secret family recipe BBQ, and the simple yet delicious shrimps with butter and garlic, I do hope they can also develop a signature dish, perhaps roasted chicken or pugon-cooked specialties, or even lechon to complete the rustic Filipino food concept.
Our lunch was about P950/head. An a la carte menu of specialties that you can order on top of the per head would have also been a nice option. Remember to always ask what’s new because they’re getting better each day. You can bring your own wine.
It was inspiring to talk to Vitty and Marie about why they decided to live here in Antipolo instead of pursuing a life abroad, and the ongoing story of The Beehouse and The Burrow. Don’t forget to tour the house and have your own photoshoot.

P.S. The house is on the flight path of planes, so you’ll see them passing by once in a while.
Just one thing Anton: The wooden carvings are bought from Antipolo carvers then decorated by Marie, who is also a professional calligrapher.
Great photos!
Thanks for sharing JB!! Kita tayo one of these days.
Hi, Anton. Thanks for this feature and the photos! Would you know how many people/guests can be accommodated in the Burrow?
the place is big can handle I believe around 25 people or so, but not sure if they can handle that much.
