Sun’s out, and It’s official, summer has finally arrived! And what better thing to enjoy the summer heat than with a quick trip to some of our newly updated & favorite summer destinations around Manila.
Awesome activities that are perfect for families, kids and barkada outings with short trips that would make your summer vacation more enjoyable.
And fun indoor/outdoor activities that would surely bring out the perfect smiles and selfies this summer!
So what are you waiting for? Here are my top 10 fun & awesome activities for summer that won’t require a long trip away from Manila.
1. Aqua Planet (Clark)
Aqua Planet claims that it is one of the newest and biggest water theme parks in Asia. Located in Clark, Pampanga, it’s the hottest water theme park destination this summer near Metro Manila.
The place is huge and definitely the biggest waterpark in the Philippines. But customer service is provincial standard and not very helpful which is a bit annoying. They don’t have any proper guide map and you are on your own. So make sure to organize weekday outing with your family and friends. Go as early as you can to enjoy all the water rides and book the cabanas.
For me, this is the best water ride in the park which is a bit scary but a lot of fun where you feel like you are inside the eye of the tornado.
Overall, we love how it has a world-class vision in terms of design, quality and safety standards. Indeed, it is one of the biggest water theme parks in Asia. You’ll be proud that we have this kind of next level water park compared to other entertainment or water parks in the country.
J.P. Rizal Avenue, J.P. Laurel Avenue & Prince Balagtas Avenue, Clark, Pampanga.

2. ATV Adventures (Rizal)
Just 1 to 2 hours away from Manila, Rizal is home to many towering landscapes, scenic views, beautiful waterfalls, and crystal clear Rivers.
ATV Adventures Rizal is a guided All-Terrain Vehicle tour through the steep mountains and muddy jungles of the Sierra Madre mountain range in Rizal.
They offer three kinds of tours and each one the packages offers pure adventure and unique experiences.
They will literally take you to the heart of the jungle, rivers, waterfalls and hiking trails and so get ready for some serious off-road adventure!
3. Masungi Geo Reserve (Rizal)
Also, just a quick hour and a half from Manila is the Masungi Georeserve. Masungi comes from the word “masungki,” which means “spiked,” this is fitting as one of the prime attractions of this reserve is a 10-kilometer spine of limestone formations.
The 1,500+ hectare reserve is a haven for a variety of flora and fauna and a fun adventure spot for hikers and ecotourists.
Some new sights to be seen are new rope obstacles, ladders, and bridges.
And of course old fan favorites, Tatay and Nanay, two limestone peaks, Yungib ni Ruben, a cave to seek shelter from the hot sun, and Sapot, a web where you can lie down and have the view of Laguna de Bay.
The perfect place for when the daily grind of the city begins to weigh down on you. It’s always nice to take a step back and appreciate nature.
4. Taal Lake Aqua Park (Batangas)
Just 2 hours away from Manila, Aqua Park by Club Balai Isabel is a huge inflatable trampoline park that floats just off the shore of Taal Lake.
Conveniently located in Batangas and with a stunning view of the Taal lake, it’s hard not to fall in love with the place.
What looks like a volcano, the aquapark itself is home to the tallest inflatable waterslide in the Philippines. A new segment will be opening this month in the park that would further increase the size and fun of the park itself
You’ll definitely have a blast here with your friends and family under the sun while enjoying the view of the glorious Taal Volcano. And the fact that the place is very close to Manila makes me want to come back every weekend.
Overall we loved how they placed the park right in front of the Taal Volcano so visitors can enjoy both the park and the lake.
5. Subic Water Park Hopping! (Subic)
Inflatable Island in Subic is the first of its kind in the Philippines and is currently the biggest and wildest inflatable playground in ASIA.
Located just 3 hours away from Manila, this bouncy playground is almost the size of 8 basketball courts and is loaded with playground-like obstacles such as slides, swings and bouncy trampolines. All this while floating above water!
Summer is here, and we all want to have fun on the beach and escape the scorching heat in Manila, and Inflatable Island offers just that. A beach + water theme park combined into one awesome adventure playground.
Currently the largest of its kind in ASIA. Inflatable Island is home to an array of inflatable obstacles, trampolines, and rides that are meant to bring out the kid in all of us.
6. Flow House Manila (Cavite)
Also for the south peeps out there! Hidden from plain sight and tucked away inside a quiet compound somewhere in Cavite. Flow House Manila is a surfer’s dream secret surf spot.
Just like any other surf spot, Flow House Manila is a sports entertainment venue that mixes surfing, good food, family, friends, and parties with a couple of beers in Manila’s first ever artificial flow surfing by Flow House International.
Located in Bacoor, Cavite or just 1 hour away from Manila. Flow House is a small gem with gnarly big waves’ all year round.
The venue is home to the first ever Flowrider in Manila which is made even better by incorporating dining, bar/drinks and a lap pool with a cool hangout spot for those who simply wants to watch or enjoy the place.
And the best thing about this place is that it also operates at night. Surfing at this time of day is perfect for those who just got out of work or for those who simply feel like getting burned under the sun. It also feels awesome to know that you can still ride and surf waves even at night knowing that you are very safe.
7. The Bike Playground: Circulo Verde (Pasig)
Ok, this one is a good mix of indoor/outdoor and specialized sports. Given that not everyone knows how to bike, this place is still a popular destination for those of you simply want to learn how to bike or even watch pro bikers do their thing.
The Bike Playground is the newest cycling facility right at the center of the metropolis near residential and business centers at Circulo Verde! It is Philippines’ First Signature Pump Park designed by mountain bike celebrity Claudio Caluori.
The Philippines first ever signature asphalt pump park designed and built by Velosolutions is now ready for our local talents to ride.
It is also the country’s first indoor and first asphalt pump park contributing to our local cycling community’s development. They are also bringing the outdoor experience closer to home and office!
The professionally designed Dirt track stretches up to almost 1km long and offers a variety of turns and exciting humps.
A dedicated Outdoor Kids Track is also available to introduce your children to cycling and outdoor activities while being supervised by one of Philippines best mountain bike champion, Bans Mendoza. All these under one fun playground! So what are you waiting for?
8. The Dessert Museum (Pasay)
From the creator of the Inflatable Island comes a new concept–Instagrammable museums! The Dessert Museum is a 12,000-sq. ft. space with 8 mouthwatering rooms of sugar-filled happiness.
With the advent of spaces like the Ice Cream Museum in New York and 29 Rooms in LA, it’s about time Manila got its own Instagram haven. What’s a better concept than a dessert museum?
A slot entitles you to 2 hours inside the museum–that makes it 15 minutes per room. Make sure your cameras are fully charged to last through all the picture taking sessions.
This is a great place to bring your squad and take great pictures together! So make sure to wear comfortable shoes also as you will be moving around a lot. I would advise not to wear skirts or dresses as they’re awkward on the slides and the cake pops.

But if you are the type of person who doesn’t want to travel far and prefers a staycation with an equally fun activity then we’ve got the right place for you!

Plus, this summer 2018, the Sunday Side of HEAT features the best of home-based food favorites, a Filipino fiesta with Cebu Lechon as the centerpiece, and a day access to the swimming pool.
Family fun in EDSA Shang! Perfect if you want to leave the kids to have fun in the play area just beside HEAT where you can keep an eye on them while you continue to enjoy the HEAT buffet.
