The family is loving crabs these days and the best place to indulge in these is at Seascape Village paluto market.
We tried the crab and seafood feasts in two restaurants: Binondo’s Golden Fortune vs. Dampa’s Lola Ina’s. Here’s our experience.
First Things First
Seascape Village, which opened its first phase of the seaside mall with 13 Filipino/Asian paluto restaurants, is a mixed-use coastal development in the Manila Bay area located beside Sofitel and Manila Film Center.

It’s similar to the dampa paluto concept, and they make sure their pricing is always at par with Seaside Dampa Macapagal.
You pay for the market price of the crabs which costs ₱500-600/kilo.
GOLDEN FORTUNE
Golden Fortune is originally from Soler St., Binondo with a second branch along T.M Kalaw St. in Ermita and a third branch at Seascape Market. They are known for their Midnight Madness discounts on dimsum and shabu shabu which starts at 9pm.

It’s a Chinese restaurant with lauriat tables, high ceiling and relatively clean ambiance.
Appetizers

The soya cake was surprisingly good, with an egg texture and color and best eaten with three kinds of mushrooms—shitake, golden mushroom and a secret mushroom ingredient.

Fire and Ice Spareribs—the ice kept the fried spareribs crunchy while the inside was still hot—ang sarap! Wiped out in seconds.

Tender beef (boys-approved) you couldn’t help but eat with rice.

They also serve Szechuan cuisine in this branch because of their Chinese clientele.
Crabs Feast 4-Ways

This was the best. We loved the sweet chili sauce where you could dip the mantau bread. You could also suck the sauce off the crab like how you would enjoy it in Singapore.

The crab was cooked with the salted egg sauce, not crusted, so you could still enjoy the flavor of the crab meat and pair it with salted egg.

Our feast was served with crab rice pot topped with a whole crab sauteed in ginger (which, on hindsight, was not very popular with the kids).

Dessert

We would usually order the drinks for the kids after the main meal so they could enjoy the food first then have the drinks as dessert.
We had to order one more round of mantau bread; this time we dipped it in condensed milk. Yum yum!
You can order almond jelly to clean your palate from the feast.
Final Thoughts
What we love about Golden Fortune is that you can still enjoy their a la carte specialties but at the same time have the paluto-style with the crabs with a lot more variety in cooking options.

Lola Ina’s, which moved from Seaside Dampa Macapagal to Seascape Village under a new ownership, is a legendary Dampa brand.

It’s a casual paluto restaurant located on the 2nd floor (above 7-11). Their specialty is Filipino food, and they are known for their paluto-style.
Appetizers

This was like a milky halaan soup with fresh Manila clams that even the boys loved.

We love to eat oysters raw, but we also liked their baked version.

The boys loved this simple liempo that you can eat with the resto’s own soy sauce and vinegar dip.

You can enjoy your seafood feast with a vegetable dish of Pakbet or Chopsuey.
Seafood Feast

The sweet chili version was the best because you could still taste the freshness of the meat but still enjoy the sweet chili sauce on its shell.

The salted egg crab was fried and added with salted egg sauce. We prefer our crabs steamed or sauteed but never fried.
The boys had to fight over the crab meat, and they had to learn how to eat it to survive the crab fight.

One of the best adobong pusits we’ve tasted, with the right level of sweet soy flavor.

Same with the shrimp, we like it just halabos so that you can really taste the sweetness of the meat (maybe dip it in soy or vinegar).
Dessert

The best and most satisfying dessert after a seafood feast, and the best part was fighting over it.
Final Thoughts
We love Lola Ina’s for their Filipino seafood feast: sweet and chili crab, halabos shrimps, adobong pusit, clam chowder and baked oysters. They specialize in paluto-style and you can buy the seafood from the market to make sure that they are still alive.
The place is simple, a bit crowded and noisy that’s typical of a paluto-ambiance. We will go back for the leche flan for dessert.

P.S. Tip: Watch out for their promos like the “1 kilo for ₱21” from June 12 to 14 to celebrate the 121st Independence Day. I heard they are planning to do weekly promotions on seafood at ₱10/kilo.
