Los Indios Bravos: Boracay’s #1 GastroPub

Read the Feature: The Best Restaurants in Boracay 2021

Los Indios Bravos is the only restobar in Boracay that serves good food and good craft beer on tap. It’s even better than the gastropubs in Manila. With Chef Martin Jickain and Chef Mike Katindig at the helm, they are surviving the pandemic because of their commitment to quality.

This is the go to place to eat and drink with clean fun and good vibes in the post-pandemic Boracay.

First Things First

What I like about Los Indios Bravos is that it features the signature pub food recipes of Chef Kenneth Cacho and Chef Norbert Gandler of ISCAHM fame while celebrating the best of all-Filipino Craft Beers (on tap), Brown and White Spirits of the Philippines at the same time. Most importantly, it pays tribute to “Los Indios Bravos”—the Brave Natives of the 1800’s, Filipino intellectuals and warrior-poets and the Tirol family of Boracay Island.

Bong Tirol, Martin Jickain and wife Maggie Tirol established the new Los Indios Bravos hidden at the back of White House in the New Boracay.

The Los Indios Bravos menu offers traditional pub food like ribs, steaks, pies and seafood platter with ice cold craft beer on tap plus the addition of new oven brick pizzas and a new line-up of cocktail creations.

Los Indios Boracay Experience

Roxas Fresh Oysters (8 pieces – ₱380). Horseradish-Tomato Ketchup and Red Wine-Shallot Vinegar

This is the only place we trust when it comes to eating fresh Aklan oysters on the island. Oysters are good sources of zinc with a kick of aphrodisiac to get you into a happy mood. Be careful about eating these elsewhere.

The Only 9 Tap Wall in Boracay!

Drinking craft beer on tap is the best while you are on the beach. Los Indios is the only place where you can get it on the island, and in a post-pandemic world, you get to appreciate those moments when you get to drink this with your friends.

Beer Flights (₱200)

Get a craft beer flight to start with. My favorite is the double IPA of Crows Brewing – De Puta Madre!

Summer Ale (₱199). Boondocks Brewing, Marikina, 5.2% ABV. Wheat Ale. A perfect balance of citrus aromas, subtle fruity overtones and mild bitterness.

Scotch Ale (₱240). Nipa Brew, Makati City, 9% ABV, Scotch Heavy Ale. This scotch ale really takes you to your leader! Even with its 9% ABV, the sweetness of its malt, caramel and vanilla flavors certainly accentuate the whole beer!

De Puta Madre (₱260). Crows Brewing Co., Muntinlupa City, 8% ABV, Double IPA. The De Puta Madre is extremely hoppified in both taste and aroma. This double IPA is brewed by a hophead for hophead beer drinkers.

Caesar Salad (₱520) with Beetroot, Cured Salmon and Chili Tofu

We all have to eat our veggies to boost our immune system, and we liked their Caesar salad combination.

Dino Bones (₱2,999). 7-8 US Angus Beef Back Ribs, Hickory Smoked BBQ Sauce

These Dino bones are the best ribs on the island. Ang sarap with the craft beer!

The bones easily fell off the meat, and you could taste the hickory bbq sauce all throughout the meat. 🙂

Coleslaw, Buttered Corn, Steak Fries, Mashed Potatoes

All the sides were done well: the coleslaw was not too sweet with the right creaminess; the mashed potatoes had a nice creamy consistency; the steak fries were crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside; and the buttered corn (without the cob) was my favorite.

Moist Banana Bread topped with Peanut Butter, Caramelized Cinnamon Banana with Vanilla Ice Cream.

This is the best—Banana Bread a la mode, a collaboration between Martinapay and Los Indios Bravos. The banana bread is the best in Boracay because it uses green bananas from local partners.

Chef Mike Katindig was part of the original team of Chef Kenneth Cacho and Chef Norbert Gandler during the early days of Los Indios Bravos in its original location in Bulabog.

Congratulations to Head Chef Mike and team for not compromising the quality of the food despite the pandemic realities of difficult logistics and sourcing of quality ingredients on the island.

P.S. They recently took over the beach front dining outlet of White House resort so now you can enjoy your meal with a view of the beach.

This is the best place to eat al fresco with a mesmerizing view of White Beach. 🙂

Sapporo Juggies – ₱1200 2 Liters, ₱3000 5 Liters + ₱1,000 Deposit

I love cocktails with a good combination of ingredients and just enough alcohol kick to keep you beach happy.

Doña Victorina – Bacardi, Lemon Juice, Mint Leaves, Grilled Pineapple Juice and Sprite

A pineapple juice concoction for something citrusy with alcohol kick from Bacardi.

Lovin’ 💚 the Padre Damaso – a mix of Bombay Gin, Homemade Ginger Syrup, Fresh Lime Juice, Mint Leaves and Ginger Ale.

Our favorite because it has gin, ginger ale and ginger lime flavors! Ang sarap nito. 🙂

Gin N Tonic with Monkey 47

Sometimes, a proper Gin N Tonic is what you need to get the conversation started for a day of drinking sessions.

They have a good selection of gins you can choose from, and hopefully they carry the local premium gins also.
