Giant Lantern Festival – Awesome Lantern Competition, Only in the Philippines!

By

Congratulations to the second place winner for this magnificent golden sun lantern that is simply amazing. 3rd Place: Barangay Del Pilar Thanks to Barangay Del Pillar for the great lantern show that was full of oohs and aahs with this stunning bright white lantern as the highlight. … Competition Format Round 3: (5 minutes) All the giant lanterns will be turned on at the same time and dance for 5 minutes continuously to a surprise christmas medley. … If I were to do it again, I would want to seat here in the tent area otherwise, you would have to bear the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd which could be unsafe if there is stampede or if there would be an emergency.

What a Spankadventure: The Very Best of Pampanga Cuisine!

By

Of course, the meal will not be complete without the unique Pampanga dessert treat of Doren Tayag’s Decadent Cake with Caramel Sauce and Aurely’s Special upside down version of Brazo de Mercedes.
…We had to get this from the house of Doren Tayag directly and I have proven that the legend is indeed true, that Doren’s Chocolate Cake is the best chocolate cake in town! … I should warn you not to eat one of these or you’ll be addicted specially if you are a brazo de mercedes lover just like us.

Pampanga Food Trip- A Culinary Tour of Pampanga 1.0

This is a one-of-a-kind culinary tour and it beats the tours of any travel agencies because of Spanky’s personal approach and you can feel the passion in him when he starts to share stories, food and history of the place.
…There were quite a handful of patronizers so we know we didn’t go wrong in trying some of their food. >> Read more: Zapata’s Mexican Restaurant Pasalubong Stop: Susie’s Susie is in the heart of Angeles City in the public market area so just imagine the traffic we had to go through to reach this place. We just didn’t know what to order for we are still full but as we spent some time looking and looking we noticed that palabok was one of the favorite to be ordered by the customers and so, Ajay ordered one for take out.

Best Halo Halo in Town — Razon’s of Guagua, Pampanga!

By

If you are a razon virgin, then you’re missing on one of the best halo halo in town! … It is as if they are blended into perfection that their sweetness does not overpower one another and the its taste is not boringly sweet. There is something with the mix of the ingredients, milk, and shaved ice that makes this the best halo-halo in town.

Aling Lucing’s Sisig — Pampanga’s Best finally in Makati :)

By

Aling Lucing’s Sisig is the pride of Pampanga with its original location in the ” riles” or located near the railroad in Angeles City (mental note: I’ll blog about this original place one of these days 🙂 Also, Aling Lucing is the Grand Slam Winner of the 3rd Sisig Festival in Angeles City held just last Dec. 2-3, 2005 besting 176 other contestants!! … Sisig is a big part of the pinoy culture together with the Halo Halo and Balut, so this is a must try even for a vegetarian like me (I can’t resist not to savor its taste 🙂 I first heard about this from Spanx’s review and this place just opened last Feb.
…It would still worth it to visit the original in Angeles (if you are within the area), and based on Spanx’s rave , it is authentic and faithful as it can be 🙂 We ordered the Combo# 1, which is Sisig with Vegetable for only P69 (served with rice).

[10TH Hot Air Balloon Fiesta #3] What to do in the Balloon Fiesta?

By

After all the balloons left, you can hang around and still see the flying acrobatic show and I’ll show you some pics on what else can you do here. … Actually after the event, you can decide to go to Zoobic in Subic and that would have been a really great Sunday treat for the family.
…There are a lot of food stalls including this grilled corn station and Aling Lucing who allegedly serves the best sisig in town 🙂 Check out this plane, bro!

[10TH Hot Air Balloon Fiesta #2] All Balloons Pumped Up, Up, Up and Away!

By

On the last day, the race is all about a lead balloon who takes off 30 minutes earlier before the other balloon will start to beat that balloon to the finish line. … I’ll take you through the launch of these balloons and hopefully convince you that this is another one of those world class events that you shouldn’t miss next time in Manila 🙂
…It’s a bird, It’s a plane, no it’s a whiska balloon 🙂 Newspaper in the sky 🙂 I intended to really capture the dog in this scene to give you a perspective on how big it is relative to the people 🙂 One of the last balloons to take off…

[10TH Hot Air Balloon Fiesta #1] The 5am Balloon Fiesta

By

Unlike in the World Pyro Olympics which you have to stay awake until late at night, in the Hot Air Balloon it starts at 5.30am in the morning when the hot air balloons start to setup and leave before 7am. … In this series, I would like to share with you this awesome experience and it felt like I was not in the Philippines with all these world class balloons (total of 21+ I believe)!
…But fortunately if you are a photographer, people normally don’t mind you and sometimes even pose in front of you 🙂 Then the balloons are laid out in the grass and inflated.
