Phoenix Court, located at Bellevue Manila, is still the best Chinese restaurant in Alabang. We celebrated Yugi’s 8th Birthday with the family and cousin Johann with one of the best Chinese lauriats in the south. Malaysian Chinese Chef Cheong Kwan Loong, who left during the pandemic, is back. That is why their Chinese lauriat food is still good, with new additions to the menu.

Appetizers

The cold cut meats with our favorite century egg and jelly fish are always good.

Just the soup I was craving for—you could taste lots of herbs and ginger in the hot pork broth served with tender rib cuts. Good to start with this specially if you have to soothe your throat and palate.

This was the first to get wiped out by the kids because the breaded prawn and creamy mayo sauce balanced well with the fruity notes.

Loved the layer of fat to meat ratio plus the crunchy skin to complete the flavor. We ate this on its own first, but it’s better if you dip it in mustard sauce and some sugar. Yum!
Dimsum

The Hakao had a generous meat inside the thin covering. Taro Puff was crunchy soft throughout and not too oily. The Xiao Long Bao had hot soup inside so it’s best to eat it in one go.

The siomai had a big chunk of pork and shrimp combination and less skin.
A lot of people come when there’s a dimsum-all-you-can promo. All the dimsums are quite good, just the way we like them.
Peking Duck

We always like Peking duck as our main dish for celebrations. This was served two ways and prepared tableside so that the eyes could eat first as the mouth was watering.

First way is duck skin and meat wrapped in pancake with vegetables and hoisin sauce.

Second way is minced duck meat served in a lettuce bowl. This goes well with fried rice.
Favorites

The kind of sweet and sour pork the kids like, not too sweet with the right sourness and a good crunch. Yum!

We tried to order a different kind of rice with this Hokkien style sauce. I actually liked it specially when mixed when the minced duck or other meats.

Chef really knows how to cook these flat noodles in a high-temperature wok. You can still taste the smokiness from the sauce. Since this was a birthday celebration, this was our birthday noodle.
Chef’s Recommendation

Served on a bed of onions, this was so good you’d want to eat the meat and suck the sauce off the bones.

I can still remember the freshness of the Pompano with special chili sauce. It was not too spicy. You’ll enjoy the Szechuan chili sauce combination.

Served in a big bowl with lots of curry sauce. Get this for your Laksa Curry fix.
Desserts

This is the best new Chinese dessert! The entire coconut is filled with coconut pudding with a gelatine texture and served chilled. A bit sweet and addicting. Make sure to share.

Big balls of lotus paste inside and sesame seeds outside. Fried to get a chewy consistency.

Of course, ang walang kamatayang Mango Sago for dessert. This is how the kids like it.
Final Thoughts

Overall, Phoenix Court is still the best in the south—still good even after all that happened during the pandemic. Glad that Chef Cheong Kwan Loong is back.
