About Thai SELECT

The Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, the Royal Thai Government launched the “Thai SELECT” program to certify and promote authentic Thai cuisine around the world.

It is a seal of approval granted to Thai restaurants (both overseas and local Thai restaurants that serve authentic Thai food) and processed Thai food products.

You can visit the Nara Thai flagship store on the 3rd floor of Mega Fashion Hall. It has simple Thai interiors, orchids centerpiece and their signature brand of Thai hospitality.

Soon they are opening their second branch in Alabang to provide an authentic Thai experience in the south.

NARA THAI MENU
Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Meat, Curry
Seafood, Fish, Rice, Side Dishes, Dessert

You can still order their Thai best sellers and new dishes during the pandemic.

NARA THAI FOOD

Fried Spinach Leaves (₱285) w/ Minced Pork & Prawn Chili Lime Dip

A healthy start with crisp spinach leaves topped with minced pork, prawn and lime dip.

Phad Thai Noodles (₱440)

We loved their pad thai which continues to be the best in Manila, well-balanced with a spice.

Pomelo Salad (₱430)

The pomelo salad has strong flavors, and this is their only dish that’s a bit on the sweet side.

Tom Ka Gai Soup (₱430) Chicken in Coconut Soup

Loved the milkiness of the soup served in a golden hot pot that keeps it warm and intensifies its flavor. You could still taste the different herbs and spices

Crabmeat in Yellow Curry (₱1,600)

This is the best new dish—crab meat in creamy yellow curry sauce.

During the pandemic, people wanted to eat crab, but they did not want to eat it whole and they wanted it taken out of the shell already. This was a pandemic innovation in Manila that was approved and adapted in Bangkok.

Steamed Grouper with Spicy Chili Lime Sauce (₱1,600 500g)

This is one of the best steamed fish dishes we have tried with its chili lime sauce. The fish is slightly deboned for the fish meat to be easily enjoyed.

Chicken Pandan (₱410)

The chicken is flavorful and tender, marinated well with a nice aroma from the pandan.

Beef Green Curry (₱570)

Our favorite! Velvety rich curry with generous servings of tender beef. We were debating if they use beef tongue or tenderloin. Make sure to order this.

Stir Fried Kale w/ Thai Anchovies (₱345)

For your vegetables, order this kale dish with Thai anchovies to pair with the curries.

Bagoong Rice (₱294)

Their bagoong rice is also quite flavorful, with all the right ingredients. A meal in itself.

Note: I still prefer plain rice with my curry though.

Dessert: Bua Loy (₱295) Coconut Milk Rice Dumplings with Salted Egg

The Thai people in Manila rave about this dessert which resembles our bilo bilo but better.

Mango and Sticky Rice with Coconut Milk (₱315)

End with the classic mango sticky rice with coconut milk which is not too sweet.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Congratulations to the Nara Thai team for bringing the authentic Nara Thai experience to Manila!

Can’t wait for Nara Thai to open in Molito, Alabang soon. 🙂
