The Story Behind Our Awesome Planet

November 12, 2008(Original version: October 10, 2008)   Dear Our Awesome Planet Friends, I started Our Awesome Planet, OAP for short, in January 2005 after the big Tsunami that hit South East Asia and before my first son Aidan was born in Asian Hospital. In those times, the art of blogging is new. The only … Continue reading The Story Behind Our Awesome Planet

The Stock Market Flying High in Boni High

The first time I heard about The Stock Market (TSM), the Philippine Stock Exchange popped into my mind. TSM is the newest restaurant at Fort Bonifacio High Street beside Fridays. It is owned by Del Monte Philippines (who has offices on the second floor of Boni High) and operated by the TOSH (The Old Spaghetti House), Grilla, Chilly Willy’s Restaurant group. It is called “Stock Market” because it is a place where Del Monte intends to sell its stock of products which include Del Monte drinks, fruits, and its own line of salad dressing.

Lulubelle

Lulubelle has the best ambiance among all the Frozen Yogurt establishments we have visited to date. The hot pink & white ambiance with purple pink christmas tree accent draws you inside this little corner store at the 3/F of Rockwell Power Plant Mall. The Lulubelle logo resembles the cow version of Santa Butsiki of Ang Unang Baboy sa Langit. Lori has the scoop on why it is named Lulubelle in her post, “A Cow Named Lulubelle”.

100 Awesome

TI would like to share with you a rough draft of my outline for the OAP book. The emphasis is on “rough” since this is my personal brainstorm list of the experiences that really wowed me or the things that I can’t wait to experience. I would like to get the collective thoughts of OAP Friends about what you think about the outline and what are your inputs/feedback. The list is focused on three awesome aspects of life in the Philippines: food (food trips, and restaurants), travel (beaches and fiestas) and spiritual experiences only in the Philippines.

KAI Revisited

We celebrated my Mom’s birthday last September and decided to try out an old favorite. Kai recently transferred to the new Greenbelt 5 beside Myron’s with a classy intimidating look. Kai is the japanese word for “gathering” and specializes on Japanese fusion cuisine. It was started by four (4) young filipino chefs Ricky Estrellado, Gilbert Panilinan, Rex Soriano and Pierre Angeli Dee who had extensive experience with Chef Nobu Matshushita’s Nobu Japanese-Peruvian Restaurant in New York.
KAI is known for interesting dishes with a surprising taste. Let me share with you the food that we thought were winners.

La Boheme Manila

La Boheme is all set for the Gala Opening on Oct. 3 Friday 8pm! We were able to watch the run through of Acts III and Acts IV of La Boheme. The voices of the La Boheme cast were solid even without microphones. The love songs were beautiful even if you don’t understand the lyrics.
The biggest complaint from first time Opera watchers is that they don’t understand what is going on. Before watching the show, it is your responsibility to read the synopsis of the 4 acts and the translation of the songs to english. Here is a helpful site to learn more about La Boheme.

Manila Grand Opera Hotel and the New President

We are excited and finalizing our plans for the Ultimate Tagaytay (10 days to go) and Pampanga Tours (24 days to go). Spanx’s Uncle sponsored our meeting in the newest hotel in the heart of Manila — Manila Grand Opera Hotel. One of its main attraction is the New President’s Sharks Fin & Seafood Restaurant and Circa Bar & Restaurant. You might have heard the news that President’s Restaurant along Ongpin in Binondo closed down recently because of internal problems. The two restaurants have no connections whatsoever. I was even surprised that they were able to reuse another restaurant name by just putting in “New”.
