You might have seen a lot of Lechon breads lately and I’m still finding out if the Lechon bread of Antipolo is the original? You can buy the smallest one at P10 per piece and you can order bigger sizes on a per order basis.

Makansutra Disappointment…
I was super excited to try Makansutra Asian Food Village at the 2nd Floor of Manila Ocean Park. Ever since our family’s Singapore food trip (see: Singapore Makan Food Trip – My Top 10 Favorites! and Singapore Makan Food that did not make the cut), I was craving for authentic Makan cuisine here in Manila.
I have very high expectations because the food stall is owned and managed by KF Seetoh, the author and founder of the Singapore food bible – Makansutra. I must admit OAP was inspired by it.
I was disappointed.
Best Buffets in Manila: Li Li’s Yum Cha Sunday Dimsum Buffet
Li Li Dimsum Buffet (P1,342 net) in Hyatt is one of the best Cantonese dimsum buffets in Manila. It’s just like the ones you can enjoy in Hong Kong. The menu is created by five highly skilled master chefs from Hong Kong to ensure the culinary quality and authenticity that Hyatt is known for.
Best Buffets in Manila: Dusit Thani’s Crossover Sunday Brunch
The Family Crossover Brunch Buffet is the best buffet deal in town every Sunday. You get to try the best Thai, Japanese and Italian cuisine in Makati for P1,450 net from Dusit Thani’s specialty restaurants – Benjarong, Umu, and Tosca, respectively. The continental buffet in Basix restaurant is also included but it takes a supporting role, providing the Peking duck, prime ribs, shawarma and other common dishes one would expect in a hotel buffet.
El Favorito Ice Cream
Elfav is the ice creamery of El Favorito Ice Cream, which uses skim milk from New Zealand. I can understand why they need to have different strong flavors because the skim milk has a distinct aftertaste. You’ll first encounter the flavor of the ice cream and then the sweet lingering aftertaste.
Gigi’s Custaroons
Essentially, it is custard cake with macaroons on top but I would describe it as a dense leche flan with roasted chewy coconut on top. Just imagine eating a concentrated sweet piece of butter, cream and cheese. The coconut acts as “pampaalis ng suya” instead of the typical walnut or other kinds of nuts.
Machiavelli Chocolatier – The Hottest Eurasian Chocolates in Town
The Chocolate Craze in Manila is heating up with the launch of Machiavelli Chocolatier Eurasian Fusion chocolates. The chocolates combine the best of European and Asian ingredients.
Ying Ying, the new “President” in Binondo
Until now, I can’t believe that the President Restaurant in Binondo closed down. It was a foodie institution and President was THE Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. The rumor in the foodie community is that the head chef of President transferred to Ying Ying Tea House Restaurant. (Can anybody confirm this?) Ying Ying Restaurant is now becoming the new “President” in Binondo.

Chef’s Table by Chef Bruce Lim is the latest freestyle dining by-reservation-only restaurant in Manila. It is set on the rooftop of Tablescape Studio, which is hidden along Kalayaan Avenue, near Fort Bonifacio.
